Merideth: If you want some stylish and reliable accessibility for your 2005 or newer Double Cab Toyota Tacoma, these Red Rock Predator side step bars will be a great addition to your build. These will be a great pick for the truck owner who has added a lift to their Tacoma or even a leveling kit, and needs a little more when it comes to getting a boost up into their cab with a dropped step. Now this step will also provide some great protection to kick up or obstacles, whether you're doing some trails or you're just on your everyday adventures. Not to mention these will be stylish and offer some more off-road and heavy duty appeal to your build. These will be made of a durable steel construction, giving you some peace of mind that they will protect your rocker area. Now on top, you're gonna see a nice fine texture, black powder coat finish, again, offering that heavy duty look, but it's also going to protect the steel underneath. Now, the step itself is gonna have a slight drop to it, so it's not gonna be as low as some other choices, and will offer a four and a half inch wide stepping surface for a good amount of real estate underneath your foot when getting in and out of the Tacoma. Now, stepping surface will also have a diamond plated finish on top, which is going to give you some extra traction, but is mainly going to be there for some additional style. As for price, these will come in roughly $400, which is a pretty average price point for a heavy duty sidestep. Now, some other choices on the page with a similar build as far as a heavy duty sidestep is concerned may have slight differences in the construction, like a boxier build. They may have a wider step here or even may drop down a little bit farther as to where this is a little bit more higher clearance than some other choices. Now I personally think if you're looking for a good looking and heavy duty sidestep that's gonna offer you the quality and the accessibility that you need for your Tacoma, then this is a great pick. Install is gonna be a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about two hours to get the job done with some basic hand tools. Now speaking of the install, we can head over to the shop and check out a detailed breakdown of the install and what that looks like. That's gonna wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Man: Tools required for this install include a ratchet, an extension and a 12-millimeter socket. What's up guys? Today we're installing a set of side steps on our Tacoma. So let's get started. So now coming down under the truck, our first step is to get our hardware mounted by hand. Now the jack stands aren't able to get the perfect angle for our sidestep to mount up. So we're gonna get our hardware started by hand on all of our mounts. We're gonna do our middle one first here, and then once we have our threads started, we can remove our jack stands and come back under and tighten everything down. Next we can come up to the front and do our front mount. Now we only have one bolt on this side. Then once we get that threaded in, we can pull our jack stand out. So now we can install our two bolts on our rearmost bracket. So now with all of our hardware installed, we can work our way from the back to the front, tightening down all of our bolts. So we're gonna use a 12-millimeter socket to tighten these down. Now we can come to the middle bracket and tighten down our bolts. And now finally, we can come to the front and tighten down our last remaining bolt. And now once we have our sidestep installed on one side, we can do that same thing on the other side. So that'll wrap up this review and install of the Red Rock Predator sidestep bars for your 2005 and newer Tacoma Double Cabs. Thank you for watching and for all things Tacoma, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
