      Hey, guys, so today we're checking out the Redrock 4x4 Vented Spare Tire carrier Delete Kit, fitting all 2018 and newer JL Wranglers. So, if you've deleted your spare tire carrier as well as your spare tire or you plan on doing so it can leave the back vents on your tailgate open and it can leave a very unfinished look. Now, what this is going to do is completely cover everything up protecting your tailgate from anything getting inside it like trail dust or even water when it rains, and it's going to create a very clean and, again, finished look. Now, this is gonna be made of a carbon steel plate material that's going to hold up for a long time, be very durable in the back of your tailgate and it's also gonna be covered in a textured black powder coat finish. This is gonna have a fine-textured black powder coat that will match with any other textured powder-coated black accessories that you already have on your Wrangler and it's going to leave a very sleek look. Now, what I really like about this is the fact that this is going to have vents cut out on the plate itself. So you still are getting that function and airflow inside your cabin area.Now, I would like to mention that this is not going to come with a backup camera mount as well as a third brake light mount, you will be deleting those if your Jeep was equipped from the factory. However, if you're not concerned about that, and you're just looking for an affordable option, then this is gonna be right up your alley. Now, speaking of that price, this is gonna come in at roughly $40 and that's gonna be one of your most affordable options on the page for a spare tire delete kit. Now, in comparison to some other choices, there are gonna be choices out there that will be compatible with that backup camera as well as the third brake light. It may come with additional lighting, but those are going to obviously be a little bit more pricey when it comes to all of those extra bells and whistles. Now, again, this is going to be a very simplistic option, keeping it very affordable. And then there are some other choices on the page that will just vary in design, some may not come with the vents here.Now, if you're a fan of events, this is going to be a great option. Others may come in different colors or different color powder coatings, so you can choose which one you'd like for a custom color scheme. Now, again, I personally really like this one, it adds a sleek look to the back. It's got those vents for that functionality, and it is incredibly affordable for a kit like this. Now, as far as install goes, this is also gonna be incredibly easy to install. I'm gonna give this a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, we're gonna need some very basic hand tools to get the job done. So, speaking of that install, let me run you through that right now. The tools that I used for my install were an impact wrench, a ratchet, a 13-millimeter, and a 22-millimeter socket, 5-inch extension, T-40 Torx, and a trim removal tool. To kick off this install, we do need to take off the backup camera cover, you're gonna need the T-40 Torx and the ratchet out of the JL toolkit and we can just unlock it and pull it off.So, our next step to remove at our spare tire, I'm gonna be using a 22-millimeter socket and I'm also going to be using our lug nut key. If you have the factory lug nuts, you still will be using a 22-millimeter socket, you'll just need a deep socket. So, our next step is to disconnect our wiring harness, but that's gonna be inside our tailgate, so we have to open it up and pull off some interior. So, our next step is to take a trim removal tool or a panel removal tool and we're going to remove this trim piece here. There's a wiring harness underneath here, underneath this trim piece for the backup camera as well as our third brake light. So, what we can do is just start to pry around and just pull it forward. It's held in by a series of clips so it should come out pretty easily. So, the top one and the middle one need to be removed. Just press down on that tab and pull back. If you're having trouble disconnecting them on the tailgate, you can just pop out this clip and you'll be able to handle it a little bit better.Make sure that red locking tab is up, press down, pull back. And then what we can do, since we're not gonna be using these, is actually put our trim piece back on, we're just going to pop it in place. Make sure that's secure. Then we can close up our tailgate. Our next step is to just pull this grommet out, this is where our wiring harness that we just disconnected runs through. I'm just gonna pull these through the tailgate, and now we'll be able to disconnect our carrier. So, around the carrier, you're gonna have eight 13-millimeter bolts, I'm gonna take a 13-millimeter socket and a small extension and remove all of those so we can remove our carrier. So, for our last bolt, you wanna make sure you have a hand on your carrier because after this bolt, it will be completely disconnected. So, our last step to this uninstall is just to take out our factory vents. I'm just gonna take a trim removal tool or that pry tool that we used for the tailgate. There's two clips up at the top and then it will pop right out.So, what we can do now is take our vented plate, making sure that the vents are on the outside and they're facing down, and mount this up on our tailgate using our factory hardware. I'm going to just line it up with our mounting holes or threaded holes. We can take our factory hardware and start to hand thread them in. So, after everything is threaded in, what we can do is take the same 13-millimeter socket that we used to remove these bolts and tighten them down. What I like to do is just kind of hold the plate in place, make sure everything's getting threaded in properly and it's adjusted evenly on either side. So, once you have two down, you can kind of let go of the plate and just tighten everything else down. After everything is tightened down, then you're all set to go.
