Ryan: Hey, what's up, guys? Ryan here from ExtremeTerrain. And today I'm here with the RedRock 4x4 HD Drop Side Step Bars, fitting your 2018 and up 2-door Wrangler JL. Now this is gonna be for those of you that are looking for an affordable, easy to install set of drop side step bars to gain some ease of access into your Wrangler. These are not only a great way to change up the appearance of your Wrangler but add some protection both underneath and on the side. Now not only are these going to gain you some ease of access but of course they're gonna add some much-needed side protection. Now these, their tubular design is going to protect that very vulnerable rocker panel and of course, it's gonna give you a very nice step. This step is gonna gain you some ease of access, allowing you to enter your vehicle or reach any cargo that you may have stored up top. Now this may not be a huge issue for you stock guys, but of course, you modified guys that are much taller, this is really going to be a huge help. Now these have a very unique design and they're a great way to change up the look of your Wrangler. Now this design is unlike many other options that you'll come across in the aftermarket. Options such as this can range anywhere from $170 all the way up to over $500. RedRock is making a very affordable option available to you at just around $220.Now these have a very nice built-in step plate and it's also textured and ribbed as well. This is gonna give you a really good spot to place your foot and it's gonna ensure that you don't go slipping off. Now these are made of steel tubing and plating fully welded up and the whole thing is coated in a textured black powder coating that, of course, is going to add to those rugged good looks of your Wrangler and it's also going to protect your investment from the elements. Another nice thing about these is they're going to deflect any debris that you may kick up from your tires whether you're on the road or if you're off-road and that's gonna keep your paint a little bit nicer. Now for those of you that are avid off-roaders you really like to do those tough trails of course a drop step is not your ideal option. These do have brackets and of course a step that hangs down a little bit lower and this can get caught on obstacles when you're on the trails. These are a very easy bolt-on, they utilize factory mounting points so we don't need to do any drilling or modification to get these installed and they even come with brand new hardware. I'm gonna give these a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter as you can get these installed in about two hours just using basic hand tools. So all in all, if you're looking for a very affordable set of sides steps that are gonna provide that side protection, really easy to install and of course are budget-friendly then I think this is a great option to go with. So with that being said, let's hop into our install.Tools we used for this install: 3/8 drive impact, ¼-inch drive ratchet, 16-millimeter wrench, 10-millimeter wrench, 17-millimeter socket, 13-millimeter socket, and a 10-millimeter socket. All right, guys, so before we kick off this installation, there's one thing that I want to talk about. If you do have side steps work or if you have Rubicon rails, you need to get those off, these are not gonna work in conjunction with those because we need to bolt these to the pinch weld. Now these are relatively easy to install and that factory set is relatively easy to get off. It's held on with a few nuts and bolts, you can use a 13-millimeter and a 10-millimeter socket to get that stuff off. Now like I said, these are a relatively easy install. These have brackets welded onto them and we also have some secondary brackets that we need to bolt onto them. Now you can do this two different ways, you can bolt these brackets on here, hold the whole assembly up and get it installed or you can just bolt these brackets on and then work on getting the step installed. What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go grab a creeper, grab the hardware, grab some tools, and then we'll get started. All right, so what are we gonna do, we're gonna bolt our brackets. Now we're working with the driver side here. You can see that we have a little bit more of length out here on the front, so you want to pick the right side, you got 50/50 shot so if it doesn't work obviously it goes on the other side. Now the nice thing about these brackets that we're going to attach is they're marked. So they're marked driver and passenger and also they face different ways so you're gonna make sure that you put them on the correct way. Now the front one up here, this one, this offset is gonna face towards the front. We're also gonna mount this on the front side of this flange, so we're gonna mount this on the outside. This one back here is going to get mounted on the inside, and of course, this gonna face backwards. Now as far as bolting these brackets to our actual side step, we're gonna be using this M10 hardware. So they give us this thick 10-millimeter hardware and each one of these bolts is gonna get a flat washer and then we're gonna go through the brackets and they're getting another flat washer and then a nylon lock nut. So I'm gonna bring you guys over here, I'm gonna flip this over, we'll get these brackets installed. So, like I said, this front bracket is gonna lay on the front side of this. We got a flat washer on the bolt head, we're gonna do another flat washer and then we're gonna do these nyloc nuts. So we're gonna do that to both of these and then what we're gonna do, we're just gonna take a little bit of play out of this bracket, we're not gonna tighten it all the way up because we still need to move it around. But you can take a 16-millimeter wrench or socket to the bolt head and a 17-millimeter wrench or socket to the nut.All right, so that's pretty tight, still moves around. We're gonna go ahead and get the other bracket installed. Now this rear one, we're gonna place this bracket on the front side of it. Same thing, we're gonna pass our bolts through, flat washer, another flat washer and then a nyloc nut. Then same thing, we're just gonna get a little play out of these, tighten them up a little bit.All right, so this is the part where you're probably gonna want a friend to help you out. We're gonna sit this on the backside of our pinch weld. And the first thing that I'm going to do is bolt it to the underbody of the Jeep, so these brackets, we have threaded holes that are up in the underbody of the Jeep, just gonna pass a bolt up into those, hold it in place. So now that you're under the Jeep, you can see exactly where I'm going. So you have pre-threaded holes in the bottom of your tub up in the floor, we're gonna use this M8 bolt that they give us, this is going to be the longest bolt they give us. And each one is gonna get a lock washer up against the head of the bolt and then a large flat washer. All we're gonna do is just pass up through this bracket we installed then we'll screw that in the bottom of the floor. After that, we're gonna do our pinch weld bolts. Now the pinch weld bolts are gonna need these little M6 bolts, these skinny bolts. Each one is gonna get a flat washer, we're gonna go through the outside of the pinch weld through our new side step bracket. Then on the backside we're gonna do another flat washer and then a little tiny nyloc nut. So each mount is going to get two of them, we'll do this two times. And then we'll go up to the front, we'll do that same exact thing, get all that hardware installed. All right, so once we get up to the front, we're gonna do that same thing, M8 bolt with a lock washer against the head and then a flat washer, we're gonna go up through the floor.Next, we'll do our pinch weld, same thing, M6 bolt, flat washer through the pinch weld through our mount, another flat washer and a nyloc nut. Then we'll get this last one installed then we'll go around and tighten everything up.So we're gonna go around tighten everything up, there is a ton of play and adjustability. First thing we want to do is we want to tighten up this bolt going up through the floor, so we're gonna use a 13-millimeter socket to tighten up that bolt. Now you want to make sure that this whole thing is slid forward and it's up tight against the pinch weld when you go to tighten this bolt up.Next thing you want to do is tighten up the pinch weld, so you'll need a 10-millimeter wrench and socket. Then we'll move to the back and we'll do that same thing, start with that bolt going up through the floor. And then last but not least, we're gonna go ahead and tighten up our last bolts for the steps using that 16-millimeter and 17-millimeter.All right, guys, so now that we have this side completely installed, you can use that same exact process to get the other side installed. However, that is gonna wrap it up for my review and install. For more videos and products like this, check us out at extremeterrain.com.

RedRock Drop Steps
These are rugged and went on easy which is great. The instructions were a little confusing, however, the biggest issue is the step does not protrude out from the side very far so you are stepping onto a step that is under the jeep. Difficult to use, would be better if it came out furtherHelpful (1)

Product received in a timely manner. All parts included along with easy to follow instructions. Perfect fit in place of the Rock Rails. Reasonably easy installation, did require two people to hold in place as bolts installed and tightened. Met the requirement for my 5'2" wife to have easy access - it is her Jeep after all.Helpful (1)
