Review & Install Video
Hey, I'm Kevin with Extreme Terrain, and I'm going to give you a product review of the RedRock 4x4 Wrap Around Tail Light Guards. These guards are designed to fit 2007 to 2016 JKs and Wranglers, and it's pretty simple how they go on, that you just utilize the screws in the tail light. Now, this will offer a level of protection. If you're not going to go hardcore wheel, and you're not going to dump it over on the side or brush up against the obstacles on the trail, like most of us don't, then this is going to offer a degree of protection against tree branches or debris that might come in and possibly bust a tail light lens. However, they're mounted to the tail light itself with fasteners and hardware that comes with the kit, and a real hard lick is going to break the tail light lens. So if you're really after a hardcore product, this is probably not it, but they look cool, and they do offer some protection.Installation, well, it's pretty easy. This kit comes with isolaters to go between the screws and the guard, so there's no direct contact with the guard and the lens, and that'll help isolate from direct damage. Installation, well, it's pretty self-explanatory, and if you've ever handled a Phillips screwdriver before, you'll be in and out of this install in just a few minutes per side. Now, one of the things I love about the Jeep hobby and, frankly, the industry that supports it is that there's something for everybody. No matter how you want to restyle your Jeep or armor it up for aggressive hardcore wheeling, there's something for every level of enthusiasts, whether it's just appearance or actual performance and protection. Having said all of that, I would not have these tail light guards on a rig that I wheeled aggressively, but for a dual-purpose rig, I'd like them.I like the powder coat finish. It matches several of the other accent pieces - the bumpers and the rock rails that we've got on this rig - so it ties in a theme. If wrinkle black powder coat is not your thing, they also come with a smooth glossy black powder coat, and the option of a polished stainless is always at your fingertips. However, the powder coat well, that's about $60 for the set. You're looking at about $110 for the polished stainless, but, again, it's a blingier option if that's the road you want to go down, no judgment. Having said that, I like it. Is it heavy duty and hardcore? No, not really, but it looks nice.So that's my product review for the RedRock 4x4 Wrap Around Tail Light Guards, and you can look at these and other accessories at ExtremeTerrain.com.
