I'm Ryan with ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the RedRock 4x4 three-inch round side steps, fitting all of 1987 to 2006 Wranglers. These are available in the textured black powder coat finish that you see here, but they're also available in a gloss black and a polished stainless finish. These are even available for those of you with the long wheelbase TJ Unlimiteds. These are for those of you who want to make it a little bit easier to get into and out of your lifted or even a stock height TJ. These provide a nice large stepping surface and they do it at a really reasonable price, even when compared to other tube steps on the market. Now, it is important to remember that these are not Side Armor. These are not going to hold up to trail obstacles, like Armor would. So, if you're somebody who goes off road a lot, you'll want to look into some of the Armor options that also have the step built in. But, if you're somebody who stays on the road and wants to save a little bit of money, these are a great step. These steps are built from a tubular stainless steel material, which means they're going to resist both rust and corrosion and last a good long time. In fact, these come with a limited three-year warranty. You have a few choice of three different finishes with these, either the textured black powder coat finish that you see here, a gloss black powder coat or a polished stainless. So, no matter what look you're going for on your Jeep, there's an option available for you. No matter which finish you choose, they all have this non-skid stepping pad, which means you're going to be able to safely and easily use the step to get both in and out of your Jeep, even if it's muddy or rainy. Now, these steps are going to decrease your ground clearance a little bit just by the nature of the way they're mounted. So again, if you're somebody who takes your Jeep off road a lot, you might want to look at some other options. These side steps are designed to be completely bolt on, which means you don't have to drill or cut anything to get them installed. However, they're not going to work in conjunction with any other step, including your factory side steps. Now, these mount using the factory body bolts on your Jeep, which can be notoriously difficult to remove, especially if you have an older TJ or one that has a lot of rust on it. So I would recommend spraying those bolts with a good penetrating oil a few days before you get started. Once you get those bolts removed, you'll install the included brackets and then bolt your new side steps to those brackets. The whole installation process should take about two hours and you'll only need three different sockets, a 10-millimeter, 16-millimeter, and 19-millimeter. I do like these steps, especially for the price you pay. The stainless construction means they are going to hold up better than a mild steel step would if you end up getting any scratches or dings in the finish. They're designed to be completely bolt on, they're well-built, and I think they look pretty good as well. So, if you're somebody who wants to add a step to their Jeep and doesn't need the protection of more expensive Armor, these are a less expensive and easy to install option. So, that's my review of the RedRock 4x4 three-inch round side step, fitting all 1987 to 2006 Wranglers that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.
