How to Install RedRock 4x4 3 in. Side Steps on your 1987-2006 Jeep Wrangler YJ or TJ

(2) - tube steps
(4) - body mount brackets
(4) - bolts
(4) - washers
(4) - lock washers


It is recommended that you have an additional person available to help during this installation, parts can be awkward to hold and support by yourself. Block wheels and set parking brake before beginning work.

If your Jeep came with a factory step, start by removing the (7) 10mm bolts where the steps attach to the frame. Remove the factory step and repeat on the other side.

Remove the (2) 16mm factory body bolts, located between the wheels, on one side of the Jeep. (Only remove one side at a time.)

Place a bracket over the front body mount. Reinstall the factory body bolt through the inner oval hole in the bracket. Tighten the bolt until it loosely holds the bracket in place.

Place a bracket over the rear body mount. Reinstall the stock body bolt through the outer oval hole in the bracket. Tighten the bolt until it loosely holds the bracket in place.

Install a 19mm bolt, with a lock washer and washer, through the bracket and into the side step at the front and rear mount. Repeat the process on the other side. Tighten down all hardware.
