I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the Pypes Street Pro dual outlet catback exhaust, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This system's available for both the two door and the four door body styles and it's available with a black muffler and tips or a silver muffler with polished tips. This is for those of you who want a little bit more volume and a little lower tone out of your exhaust and also want a bit more of a visual impact from having a dual outlet exhaust with the optional black muffler and tips. Now, the sound that comes out of your exhaust is definitely going to depend on what year your Jeep is, because that will determine whether you have the 3.8 liter or the 3.6 liter. But, no matter which engine you have, getting rid of the resonator with this catback system will definitely change the sound of your exhaust. Pypes does a really nice job of putting together a complete kit all at a really reasonable price. This system is built from two and a half inch 304 stainless pipe that is mandrel bent, however I wouldn't expect to get a ton more flow out of this system, because there is one area that it gets crushed down a good bit to provide clearance for installation. The fact that this is 304 stainless means it's going to hold up pretty well, however it is going to be a little bit more susceptible to surface rust than say, a 409 system that would be more expensive. Because this is designed specifically for your two or four door Wrangler, it'll fit right out of the box without the need to cut any of the piping. This will include all of the hangers, hardware and clamps necessary to get it installed, and the muffler that's included is the Street Pro dual outlet muffler in your choice of black or silver with matching tips. Now if you're somebody who goes offroad a lot and you want a little bit more exhaust volume and a lower note, maybe you don't want to go with this system because you do have a lot of extra piping with the dual outlet exhaust out back that can just get crushed or hung up on different trail obstacles. If you're somebody who goes offroad a lot but you want the benefits of a catback system, I would recommend taking a look at Pypes' high clearance system. Now like with any exhaust work, how quickly and easily things go will definitely depend on how rusty your factory system is. I would recommend soaking all of your factory clamps and bolts in a good penetrating oil well before you get started with this job. Once you get your factory system removed, which is a pretty easy process, especially if you have a large pry bar on hand to remove those factory rubber hangers, then you can get to installing your new system. You will start from the front with your new midpipe, then install the tail pipe and your muffler and tips. Once you have everything installed, you can work your way back through, tightening all of the clamps and making sure you have everything positioned exactly where you want it. The whole process could take as little as an hour if your factory system isn't that rusty or if you do a good job lubricating everything ahead of time. And you won't need any specialty tools, just a socket set and a good pry bar for those hangers. This system is really priced in the middle of the road for comparable catback systems that have a dual outlet exhaust, and if you're judging the value and the price of this system off of how straight and consistent the welds are or how good a job they did cleaning up the splatter before they powder coated the muffler, maybe you wouldn't put this at the top of the list. But, if you're looking to save a couple of dollars and you want a system that is complete and installs easily, I think this is a really nice way to go. So if you're looking for an exhaust system to give you that lower, louder exhaust note, in part by removing that factory resonator for those of you with newer Jeeps, this is a really nice system that's moderately priced, really complete and easy to install. So that's my review of the Pypes Street Pro dual outlet catback exhaust fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs, that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Well I am a Diesel Mechanic and my dad has been a mechanic his whole life. When he heard my stock exhaust on my 2012 JK/Jeep Wrangler he said it sounds bad. Well about a month later and many reviews and research we decided to split the cost on a new exhaust. After installation I fired it up and it sounded good. I was excited. The excitement soon turned into frustration as the drone in this exhaust was so bad I would get a headache. I went to a exhaust shop and had them weld on the old resonator. This helped but not much. My wife now dislikes riding in our Jeep but I am stuck since I threw away the old exhaust. The tips have rusted and look like they have been on the vehicle for 10 years. I really think this company has potential but this is not a good fit for a two door Jeep Wrangler unless you have a lot of Tylenol in your console.Helpful (12)

DO NOT buy if you have an AUTOMATIC transmission!
GREAT FOR A MANUAL TRANSMISSION, but absolutely DO NOT BUY IF YOUR JEEP HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION!!!! The low rpm cruising drone will be unbearable if you have an automatic! If you can't keep the cruising rpm between 2-3000 instead of 1-2000 it's bad! The install is easy as Long as you fit everything loosely into place before even thinking about tightening anything. However it's a pain in the A to get the oem exhaust out. You will need an angle grinder and I also recommend a dead blow hammer. The drone on the highway is annoying below 2000 rpm (6th gear), so don't buy it if you have an automatic. If you cruise on the freeway in 5th gear keeping the rpm between 2-3000 with a manual instead of 6th the drone isn't nearly as bad. But if you have an automatic, it will be unbearable.Helpful (13)

Pypes cat back install
Do not attempt to install this at home unless you are prepared to cut and weld. Muffler lined up 1 inch to the right of center. Had to modify muffler inlet and relocate hangar brackets and reinforced. Sounds great.Helpful (12)

Great sounding exhaust.
The kit came packaged very well and install took the better part of four hours. Two of those hours was from trying to get the factory Y-pipe off to cut it down, but after it was cut, the rest was easy. This system is loud and very aggressive. My only complaint is the drone that comes around sometimes. Overall, I am very happy I chose this kit and you don't hear too many of them around.Helpful (13)

I can't hear you
I would like to start by saying how disappointed I was in this exhaust system. The exhaust system itself looks great. Installation was not bad I finally had to cut one hanger to level the pipes out. Sitting in the driveway it sounds great BUT when driving at highway speeds 2000 RPMs the drone is absolutely un bearable. The very second I get a chance to get this system off I'm putting the factory back on. I will build my own system this summer. Live and learn and this was a $400 learning experience. Have a nice day.Helpful (13)
the video states that it is 304 stainless and the specs say it is 409, so which is it?
