Installation Time

1 hours

Before beginning installation, read and make sure you understand all instructions, and have necessary equipment at hand.

WARNING:

Before working on the vehicle, make sure that it is well supported by jack stands or ramps of sufficient load capacity for the weight of the vehicle. NEVER work on any vehicle which is supported only by its service jack.

1. Raise vehicle on lift (preferred), or on jack stands or ramps.

2. Loosen clamp at muffler inlet pipe, unhook rubber hangers and remove original muffler. Leave rubber hangers in place.

3. Install extension pipe 628771 onto original overaxle pipe and insert rod bracket into original rubber hanger.

4. Install muffler 628772 on extension pipe and install one 2 ½" U-clamp on extension pipe to overaxle pipe joint and one on extension pipe to muffler joint. Snug clamps but do not tighten.

5. Install tailpipe 628773 onto muffler, and insert rod bracket into original rubber hanger. Install a 2 ½" U-clamp. Snug but do not tighten

6. Install tailpipe tip on tailpipe, Snug clamp but do not tighten.

7. Level tailpipe and begin tightening clamps. Keep checking tailpipe and tip alignment as each clamp is tightened.

Remove vehicle from stands Start engine and check for exhaust leaks and rattles. Listen or watch for clearance issues. Test drive.

It is recommended that all exhaust system clamps be re-torqued after the first hot-cold cycle, and periodically thereafter.

Due to the lubricants used in the mandrel bending process, some smoke may be seen on initial startup. This is normal and not harmful. It will disappear as the lubricant burns off.
