I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com, and this is my review of the Rugged Ridge Quick Release Mirror Kit, fitting all 1997 to 2016 Wranglers. This kit is available in both the rectangular mirrors that you see here and round mirrors, and it's also available in two different finishes, either gloss black or textured. You can also purchase these mirrors individually or as a pair. This mirror kit is for those of you who want to take the doors off of your Jeep but also want to remain both legal and safe by retaining your rear-view mirrors. Now, there are kits out there that will permanently move your factory mirrors from your doors to your A pillars and I really like those kits because they save you the additional step every time you take the doors off of installing or removing your quick release mirror. However, if you're somebody who has a newer JK that has either the power mirrors or heated mirrors, you'll lose that functionality by moving the mirror to the A pillar, so if you're somebody in that situation, I definitely recommend these.I especially like these mirrors over some of the other quick release mirror kits on the market because these are really solidly built. Some of the issues that you can have with a mirror like this, especially at highway speed, is a vibration that makes it really hard to see behind you. These mirrors are nice and solid, so that won't be an issue for you.On the back of each of these mirrors is a ball joint that is fully adjustable, so you can tighten it down, and that's going to keep the mirrors from moving when you hit highway speed. The way that the arm is designed and the way it attaches to the quick release bracket means it's going to attach really tightly and, again, it's not going to vibrate, especially at highway speed. Because the arms and the mirrors themselves are fully adjustable, you're going to be able to see the mirror in any situation. One of the drawbacks to moving the factory mirror to the A pillar is it can make the passenger mirror a little bit difficult to see. You won't have that issue with this kit. This kit is designed to be completely bolt-on and installs really easily. In fact, it uses a lot of the factory hardware which makes it even easier. The first step in the installation is to install the bracket that will stay on the Jeep. In order to do that, you have to remove two bolts from the factory windshield hinge. Now, we found that ours had some Locktite on them, so it might be helpful to run a die and tap through the bolt and bolt hole to make sure they're nice and clean before you reinstall those bolts. That will decrease the likelihood of you cross-threading one of those bolts.Once you have the bracket installed on the Jeep, you install the mirror onto the mirror arm, and then put the mirror arm in the quick release bracket. The whole installation shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes and the only tool you'll need is a socket to attach the mirror to the mirror arm and a Torx bit to remove those factory bolts. I think this kit is worth every dollar that you have to pay for it because of how solidly it's built. You can get two of these mirrors for right around $50 and in my opinion they're worth that. I would much rather have a mirror mover kit that permanently moves my factory mirror from my door to my A pillar, again, just so you don't have that extra step every time you take your doors on and off. However, I'm a TJ guy, so I don't have to worry about power mirrors. If I had a JK that had power mirrors that were heated, I definitely wouldn't want to lose that functionality and I would be installing a set of these on my Jeep.So if you're somebody who likes to take the doors off your Jeep for that open air driving experience, but you want to remain legal and safe, and you don't mind the extra step of taking the mirrors on and off every time you take the doors on and off, I think this is a well-built and fairly priced kit.So, that's my review of the Rugged Ridge Quick Release Mirror Kit, fitting all 1997 to 2016 Wranglers that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Just what I needed
Installation was a breeze and everything was included in the packaging. This is a much needed product, and reasonably priced, for times when the doors are off. I haven't tested on the highway but haven't noticed too much wobble during in town driving. Wild y definitely recommend.Helpful (1)

Quick release round mirrors
I have never been more disappointed in a product from Extreme Terrain. The mirrors will not stay in place as long as it takes to tighten them. More than once they have folded up on me in traffic leaving me with only the mirror on the windshield. Now I find out that I have waited too long to send them back and I am stuck with the things.Helpful (1)

Great for summer
The installation would’ve been painless if the factory torx bolts on the windshield frame weren’t such a pain to get out. My tip is to heat them up with a torch and pound the torx bit in with a hammer and taking it slow. Otherwise you’ll strip the bolts like I did the first time. The product is very good quality and they don’t move at all even at highway speeds. There is a slight whistle, but nothing unbearable. I definitely recomend.Helpful (1)

Bought more expensive mirrors. They would constantly flip down on the interstate. Decided to try these and didn't have any issues!Helpful (1)

I purchased these mirrors for my '99 TJ. Installed as directed, they face upward, giving me nothing but a view of the sky. I'm 5'7" and place my seat farther up than is average, so the issue would be even worse for someone taller. The mirrors adjust in and out but not up and down. They may be all right on a JK, since they install in a different spot, but on my TJ they were useless.Helpful (1)

Great for those no-door days
The item works great. The only precaution is the original screws for mounting may be difficult to remove, I have a 2003 Rubicon and they screws would not come out, no problem, I simply drilled holes adjacent the original screws and mounted with 1” stainless steel screws, worked perfectHelpful (1)
The video shows rectangular mirrors, but I can't seem to find them on your website. Do you sell those?
We carry the Rugged Ridge Quick Release Rectangular Mirrors which can be found here: https://www.extremeterrain.com/rr-quick-mirror-kit-tb-1102518.html
I would like to know how long the arm is on the mirrors.
Due to the arms not being straight on the Rugged Ridge Quick Release Black Round Mirrors it is difficult to give a length measurement for these. If straightened these would be approximately 10". Due to the bend, this puts the mirror center line out approximately 8" from the body, depending on the adjustment at the hinge.
I lost the 2 quick release screws to hold the mirror. Am i able to order just those pieces or do I have to order a whole new mirror set?
once the quick release is mounted on jeep, can the door be replaced without taking the mounted piece off the jeep? I under stand the mirror has to come off, but can the small mounting bracket remain on with doors on?
Yes, the doors can be re-installed without removing the mounting bracket for the mirror.
I'm looking for an option to use mirrors with the doors on and off and I do not like any of the relocation brackets. Can you use these with the doors on too? Also, do you lose visibility on the passenger side and do they vibrate? Thanks!
The Rugged Ridge Quick Release Round Mirrors can be used with your doors on or off! You will lose some visibility on the passenger side due to the size of the mirrors, and when properly tightened you should not experience too much vibration from the wind.
In order to be installed they may require sourcing longer bolts.
