Description
Rear Mounted Fuel Solution. The Motobilt Rear Mounted Fuel Tank with Skid Plate; Bare Steel is engineered to relocate the fuel tank behind the rear axle on Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU models. This relocation frees up central chassis space, allowing for installation of larger axles and advanced suspension setups without interference from the stock fuel tank location. It enhances suspension performance and enables more aggressive off-road modifications.
Construction and Appearance. The fuel tank is fabricated from 1/8 inch thick aluminum that is CNC cut, formed, and TIG welded for high strength and durability. The skid plate protection is crafted from 3/16 inch steel and ships in bare raw form, requiring painting or powder coating prior to installation to prevent corrosion and provide a clean finish.
Installation. This product features a bolt-in design utilizing existing factory frame holes, eliminating the need for any frame cutting. Installation complexity is moderate and requires removal of the factory rear sway bar and relocation of the exhaust system at the rear of the vehicle.
Application. Designed specifically for 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU models, this relocation fuel tank supports upgrades such as large one-ton rear axles and triangulated 4-link suspensions. Certain modifications, including rear sway bar removal and exhaust system relocation, are necessary for proper fitment.
