Improved Performance. Providing more torque and horsepower for moving your 2000-2006 TJ Wrangler over the trail or out of a sticky situations, the MBRP Black Series Cat-Back Exhaust is an elegantly straight forward single side exit exhaust system. Growling fiercely during acceleration, it settles into a mellow, rich rumble when you're cruising or driving at a fairly steady speed. Besides a welcome boost in horsepower and torque, the MBRP Black Series often produces +1-2 mpg additional fuel economy, depending on your Wrangler's exact configuration. The large black tip looks strong but stealthy, giving a unique look to your Jeep, too.

Bolt-On, Tough. The MBRP Black Series Cat-Back Exhaust is made with a bolt-on setup that doesn't need drilling or modification to install, and comes with all necessary hardware. The system features aluminized steel construction with 2.5-inch tubing and a 3.5-inch tip, all black coated for appearance and additional corrosion proofing. All parts are laser-cut for an easy, exact fit, and the Cat-Back comes with a 3 year system warranty and a 1 year finish warranty (limited).

Application. The MBRP Black Series Cat-Back Exhaust is designed to fit 2000-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ models, excluding Unlimited.

      Exhaust is good

Sounds really good. Not to loud but just right. Warm up mode sounds really good then it quiets down, on the road you don’t even notice it. Only really when you accelerate.

      Sounds good

If your looking for a little more noise, this is the one. It’s not too expensive and should be easy to install. It’s got a nice low tone and isn’t overwhelming, but you definitely know it’s there. My muffler bolts/nuts at the flange seemed to be welded on, so I had a shop install in under an hour. This is actually the second jeep I’ve had this cat back on and Im happy with it.

      Love it

I love it, my neighbors probably don’t. Sounds good when accelerating. Decent chop once it warms up after a cold start. Gives you a deeper, more throaty Subaru type sound that rumbles and burbles when decelerating through the 1750-1250 rev range. Had it bolted on in about 15 mins, getting the old exhaust off was what took the most time. I’d recommend buying a can of VHT header paint to protect the new system. (Its $10 and I applied two-three coats. Basically the same as the black version which costs ~$60 more). Love this exhaust.

Sounds good! Good quality exhaust for the money. Install was easy everything fit like it should. Used reciprocating saw with metal blades to cut old exhaust off. Make sure you use lots off penetrating oil on manifoldb bolts. Had to cut one manifold bolt with angle grinder.

      Perfect Fit with Throaty Sound

Hangers lined up perfectly, as did all the clamps. I sprayed all but the tip with high heat exhaust paint before installing. Exhaust was packaged well and the tip was boxed separately to avoid damage. Definitely louder than stock, but has a nice throaty sound.

      MBRP cat-back exhaust

Loving this exhaust. Gives a nice melllow tone for a 6 cylinder. I have seen a small increase in my gas mileage. A cold air intake and a cat-back exhaust is definitely a must have for a TJ.

      good value

I installed this on my 2004 TJ 4.0L. Took some time to get everything lined up, but eventually got it all installed. Sounds good with a deep rumble to it, however, not loud and obnoxious. Word of warning....if you have stock bumpers and the exhaust tip doesn't clear the bumper, your plastic bumper ends will melt. I really don't care because I am planning to replace the stock bumper eventually anyway. This project took me a bit longer to complete because I had issues getting the old muffler off (ended up cutting it off). The install of the new exhaust took less than half as long as the removal of the old exhaust, but does take some time to position and bolt up. Bottom line is that it sounds good and the price is right.

Review from MBRP Installer Series Cat-Back Exhaust (97-99 Jeep Wrangler TJ)

      Budget friendly exhaust

I bought this system because of the price point and decent reviews from others. It was easy to install and fills the intended purpose of replacement cat back system well. There are better types of pipe clamps on the market but again this is a budget system so you can deal with that. I installed this on a 97 TJ with a 2.5L 4cyl. It is considerably louder than stock but that's not a bad thing.

Review from MBRP Installer Series Cat-Back Exhaust (00-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ, Excluding Unlimited)

      Good product

Overall the project took me 2 hours but also including some much needed cleaning on areas underneath while the stock equipment was removed. Do yourself a favor and the night before hit the bolts on the old exhaust system with some PB blaster or something to loosen up the rust and dirt. I recommend doing this on a lift to save your old exhaust and prevent cutting etc. Removing the new exhaust was simple and I believe it sounds better and throatier while not obnoxious. Performance is also slightly improved with responsiveness and slight gain in torque, it is noticeable. Combined with a cold air intake will also yield great results. Definitely a sound upgrade that you won’t regret and it also looks and sounds good while maintaining the appearance and sound of a Jeep.

      Perfect Tone

Despite being bolt on, I needed to have a muffler shop install it because of a previous owners poor modification. Also the muffler itself was not black as advertised but I expected that from previous reviews so not a real big deal. I still give it 5 stars for sound, performance and overall look. Nice upgrade!
