Hey guys, Adam here with extremeterrain.com, and today, we're taking a very quick look at and installing the Outback Mirrors and Gloss Black available for the 1966 and newer CJ models, YJ, TJ, JK, and JLs. Basically, this is a universal part that'll fit any Wranglers for the Wrangler owners out there who are looking to take their doors off and keep their vehicle street-legal with some mirrors that they can easily put on and take off when it's time to take the doors on and off. Now, this guy here is great for going off-roading if you're hitting the trails, or if you're just doing some daily driving with your doors off. Anytime you take those doors off, your mirrors are coming with it so the sides are gonna be completely blind unless you add some additional off-road mirrors. And that's gonna be the same thing here, these Outback mirrors are made to attach to the upper door hinge that's otherwise unused with the doors off. It uses a stainless steel construction, it has a pivot joint on the back so it's easy to maneuver and get into the proper position.Nice thing about it here is that you can tighten it down here at the back of the mirror, and you can tighten the pivot joint down so even if you're driving at highway speeds, the wind isn't gonna be strong enough to move it. It stays consistent, and it stays reliable and safe. Now, this guy here is a seven by seven mirror, right around the same size as your factory mirrors that come on the factory Jeep doors, at least that's the case for our JL here. Obviously, different models have different sizes and designs, but this one is gonna mount right to that door hinge, which makes it pretty much universal. Now, the price tag comes in right around 100 bucks, and you get the pair so you do the driver and passenger side. We're obviously looking at the passenger here, but it's the same thing mirrored on the other side.Install, one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Obviously, the first thing is to take your doors off, but you're obviously starting with the doors off if you're adding a mirror like this. The whole point of it is to have doors off, to begin with. So once the doors are out of the way, you can bolt it right up to that. It's gonna take you about 15 minutes to knock out both sides. I'm gonna walk you through the whole install process, obviously gets one out of three wrenches. So let's get started.Tools used in the install include an impact gun, 13 and 14-millimeter deep sockets. All right. Now, obviously, you wanna start this with your doors off. The whole point of this is to add a mirror where your mirror otherwise would be removed. With the mirrors off here, we're looking at our top door hinge. So we're gonna take this bar bracket, insert one of the flat washes over the end along with the plastic sleeve, insert that through the top of that hinge. Now, obviously, that's loose. We're gonna put a washer and our nylon lock nut underneath, which is gonna help hold this guy on. Now, we don't wanna tighten this down just yet. What we're gonna do is attach the mirror to this side, and then we'll be able to tighten it down in the position obviously that you want so that you can see it from the driver's seat accurately. Let's grab the mirror and attach it.All right. So with this loose, we can turn this in easily. You wanna attach the mirror from the inside going out, put on the split washer, and then follow it up with the nut on the backside. Now, at this point, I'm gonna tighten down the mirror first, and then we're gonna position this in a way that it's easy to see. Now, obviously, this is gonna be a little bit of a trial and error. Tightening this down, we still have the pivot joint that attaches to the actual glass frame. Once you tighten this down, and once you tighten the bottom down, you'll still be able to pivot the mirror, but you wanna angle the bar in a way that's gonna make it a little bit easier for you. So that's obviously gonna take some trial and error, but at this point, let's grab our socket and tighten this down. All right. So we can grab our 13 deep socket and tighten down this part. All right. Switch over to a 14 and tighten down the bottom bar. Now, this one, I'm gonna angle in a way that we know is gonna be useful once we're in our driver's seat. So I think that looks pretty good right there.Perfect. So now, you're gonna angle this however you need to, and if you want, you can push it forward and make sure it's completely tightened. Keep in mind, guys, if it's loose at all, when you're driving on the highway, wind may be strong enough to move that, so you wanna make sure you do your trial and error, and you like the position of your mirror, and then you keep tightening this down so it's completely snug. All right. From there, you can repeat on the other side, and you're good to go.That's gonna wrap up my quick overview and install for the Outback Mirrors and Gloss Black available for the '66 and newer CJ models, YJ, TJ, JK, and JLs, making it pretty much universal.
