      Video Review & Installation

The Garvin two to three gallon Rotopax Can Mount is for those of you that have a 2007 to 2018 JK running no bigger than a 33-inch spare tire on your factory spare tire mount, that are looking for a way to very conveniently mount an either two or three gallon Rotopax right onto the back of your Jeep. This is going to be a piece that installs very simply, definitely a one out of three wrenches here. Just simply bolts into place and we'll show you how to do that in just a second here. So having some additional fluids, whether it is fuel, water, or even one of those Rotopax that is designed to hold a first aid kit is very handy. But as we know, there's not a lot of room on the inside of the vehicle and if you are holding fuel, it's not always the best idea to have that in the vehicle. So having it on the outside is going to be a big benefit to you. And this bracket is going make that very, very seamless and very painless. You don't have to drill any holes anywhere. It's going to be an extremely strong bracket to hold any sort of liquids in a Rotopax Can. Now, this is just the bracket, this does not the actual mount. It is, of course, pre-drilled for it but you will have to get whichever type of mount you like, whether it's the locking or non-locking version for your Rotopax. And, of course, supply the Rotopax Can itself but this mount is going to work really, really well with all of that Rotopax branded stuff. So again, this is going to be incredibly strong. You can see here, it has a gusset here, a gusset here, a gusset here. It's almost over-engineered. But then again, when you consider the fact that a liquid weighs roughly 8 pounds per gallon, you can have up to 3 of them hanging out here, that's 24 pounds by itself plus the bracket and the can, you can add a lot of weight there. And when you have it bouncing around, metal can fatigue so you want something that's really well built and that's what you're going to get here. It's got a black powder finish on it so it's gonna hold up in the weather really well. It's gonna match a lot of the other accessories that you're gonna have on your Jeep. But, if I'm being honest with you, you don't really even notice this. When we have the spare tire installed on this Jeep without any Rotopax here, this really just blends right in. Of course, we have a dark-colored Jeep but you don't even notice this. When you have the Rotopax on there, you're gonna see the Rotopax and the tire but the bracket almost disappears. This is really well designed and a very, very nice piece. Now, for all of that engineering and for such a well-built piece, you are going to pay a little bit. This is gonna come in roughly at the $145 mark. Now, whenever I see something and I think that seems like a lot for what you're getting, I consider how much it would cost me in time and materials to build something like this and I would definitely have more than that into it if I tried to design it. So as I said before, this is just gonna bolt right into place but let me show you how to do that right now. So getting this mount installed is a very simple process, the first step in which is to remove the spare tire of your Jeep. So we're going to go ahead and do that now. Your Rotopax mount is going to go directly between the factory spare tire mount and the tailgate using all the factory holes and the factory hardware. It's only going to mount on this side but we are going to have to remove all eight of the bolts at one point or another to put spacers on this side. Obviously, we're adding some thickness to this side, we have to add some spacers to this side so that the tire carrier sits nice and flush. So we're gonna do it exactly how the instructions tell us to, which is to remove these bolts completely, loosen these, put the bracket in, tighten that side down, and then go back in and install the spacers. But you can really do this in any order as long as you get those major steps in there. So with the driver side bolts all loose and the passenger side completely removed, we can slide the bracket in between the tire carrier and the tailgate and reinstall the bolts on this side. What you're gonna want to do is leave these bolts a little bit loose because, as you can see on the bracket, the holes are slotted so you have some adjustability there. You wanna leave everything loose until we get the spacers on the other side, then you can level this up and finally torque everything down. Now, we'll completely remove the bolts on the driver side to install the supplied spacers. Now, like I was saying, before you tighten down this hardware, you'll want to level this up. Again, these holes are sliders so you have some adjustability here. So I'm just gonna set it pretty much right there and then tighten everything down. So if you're looking for a very well-built and convenient bracket to mount some Rotopax on the back of your Jeep, I would recommend this option from Garvin and you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.
