Good product at a good price.

So I just installed my bumber and tire carrier today. It's a bear to hold the bumper in place and get the side bolts lined up by your self. Definitely suggest getting a budy to help with that. The rest is fairly easy. Everything bolted right up. The only reason I didn't give 5 starts is that the latch does contact the license plate if you do not shim the bumper out some. Also had to cut down the factory spare tire isolators on the drivers side of the tailgate as the carrier was contacting and no allowing me to latch it. You can go with a cheaper bumper and tire carrier combo but most are not tow rated like this one is. Also you could spend more and get a fancier combo with lights, bearings for the tire carrier and, links to connect the carrier to the tailgate. For me this one was a good middle ground. Had what I needed at a price I could afford. I want to give a big shout out to extreme terrains customer support. I was originally shipped 2 tire carriers with no bumper. One call and they took care of things for me. :-)

      Nice for the price

Great looking bumper, was a little difficult to install without directions. 3 stars because I received what seems to be a used bumper, it had red dirt impacted in the tire carrier :( Other than that it works fine and looks good once cleaned up.

      Good looks, but small quirks

The bumper itself was packaged really well and looks amazing. Installation was relatively easy, requiring only a few common tools and an extra set of hands. There were some problems though; as others have said, it does require a little more spacing to prevent the latch from hitting the license plate. Also, for certain bolts, nuts were welded to the bumper (not poorly). This normally wouldn't cause problems, but for one of them, a small bit of spatter got inside and prevented the bolt from being able to screw into the threads. This was remedied with a few seconds of filing with a tiny rat tail file but it was annoying. Also, there were no instructions included but I was able to download them onto my phone, and while they weren't perfectly clear, they got the job done. Very impressed by the quality of the bumper, just slightly annoyed by small hiccups that could've been prevented.

      Solid - but installation issues

I did not receive installation instructions and E.T. provided a link to instructions for a similar product. Not sure if that led to my problems. There is a spacer plate provided to set the bumper back, maybe 1/8". When tightening the 4 rear bolts the bumper ends up tilted forward (i.e. tire carrier leans forward) and I was unable to latch the gate due to clearance between the latch pin and the jeep body, that was after removing the license plate and holder. So, I added another 1/8" spacer (washers) and another spacer on top of the bolts to get it straight. This works and allows enough clearance for the gate pin even with the license plate in place. I ordered some tapered steel washers that are used for steel frame construction - may substitute those - they look to be the perfect thing to get the correct alignment. Would have been very straight forward install w/o that issue. Looks great and am happy with the bumper.

      Easy install

Bumper was easy to install. Only took about an hour. Looks good. Only thing I don't like is that the tire carrier has to be lifted up to be able to latch. Okay for me but wife won't be using it. Some paint chipped when installing so had to do a little touch up.

      Very nice bumper

This is a very nice bumper that installs quite easily. Excellent quality and construction, with a consistent power coat. Two minor issue I ran into were: 1) missing hardware to hold the handle on for the tire carrier; and 2) two of the three lugs on the lug plate were slightly angled, not allowing a stock wheel to go on. ExTerrain did resolve these issues for me, however, the replacement lug plate also had lugs that were not straight, but I was able to bend them into place. With these minor issues, I am still very happy with my selection.

      Solid bumper

This is a good looking bumper. The install is very straightforward and was able to do it myself in an afternoon. It seems that it will stand up to the tests on the trail

      Dv8 rear bumper

This bumper does look great. It's definitely heavy duty and will take a beating. Had a couple problems with the installation. The bumper it's self is easy to get on. Took about a half hour the tire carrier however was a different story. I would seriously consider the tapered bearing model. The latch handle had a pretty soft screw that held the pin mechanism in place and that in combination of the hole not being completely straight it was impossible to get the screw completely in without stripping and it caused it to hit the license plate. Ended up just getting a shorter screw. But in my opinion this bumper is unique and looks aggressive. Getting both the bumper and tire carrier for the price is far better than most of the competition and I think looks alot better than the big name brands.

      Dv 8 3rd 1 rear bumper

The item came packaged well,so there was no damage during shipping. The bumper was pretty easy to install, but the instructions did get a little vague a few steps in. There seemed to be a few things not covered in the instructions. The description says it will hold up to a 37 inch tire, however, I had to use a wheel spacer on it to fit the width of my 35x12.50 tire, which I found odd since it is a very common size. If wheel back spacing was issue, then it should tell you, since my wheel has near stock back spacing. This is the main reason I rate this item a 3. It does look good though, so I will keep it since it is already installed. If I knew I would have issues fitting my spare before installation, I would have returned it, since that was the main reason for my purchase. It took about 2 hours to remove the old and install the new.
