I'm Ryan with extremeterrain.com and this is my review of the Bushwacker Textured Hood and Tailgate Protector, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This is for those of you who wanna protect the areas that are prone to damage on your Jeep, like the leading edge of the hood that can catch a lot of stone throws and the top of your tailgate that can get damaged when you're sliding things in and out of the open back window of your Jeep. This will also change up the look of your Jeep, and it's something that's fairly inexpensive, is reversible because you're not doing any major modifications, and the installation could not be any easier. This hood and tailgate protector set is made of the same Dura-Flex 2000 TPO material that all Bushwacker flares and other plastic accessories are made out of. So you know it's gonna be really strong and it's going to resist fading in the UV sunlight, like all of the flares from Bushwacker will. These are built really well, designed to fit, and they are also designed to match all of your OE plastic on your Jeep.So your door handles, if you have factory flares or factory bumpers, these are gonna blend right in and look factory as well. As with all other Bushwacker products, this is really complete, including the alcohol prep pads that you need to clean the surface, so the installation is really easy. As I mentioned before, the installation could not get any simpler with these. They install with your 3M tape, so there is no need to drill or screw into your vehicle. So, to get started with the installation, the first step is to open your hood and keep it propped open with something like a spare two by four. That will give you all of the working area that you need to get the hood protector installed nice and easy. From there, you'll wanna use the included alcohol prep pad or a good glass cleaner to remove any debris or dirt that might be on the hood, which will give you a nice, strong bond between the 3M adhesive on your hood protector and the hood of your vehicle. Now, this 3M tape really works best above 60 degrees Fahrenheit, so you wanna be installing this in the spring or summertime or at least in the heated garage. If you put this on in the dead of winter when it's freeing outside, the adhesive isn't gonna wanna setup quite as well and the part might not stick on as well as it should. Once you have the surface clean, you can lay the hood protector up onto the hood, making sure that this leading edge hooks underneath the front of the hood. If that edge is not hooked in properly, Bushwacker does tell you that the hood won't shut properly. So it's important that that is hooked under. Now, all of the 3M adhesive has this red backing tape over top of it and all of the ends of that have been left long, which, again, makes installation really easy. All you need to do, once you have the hood protector clipped in place, is with one hand hold it firmly in place and with the other grab the long tail of the 3M covering and peel it back. There are a total of three strips that hold on the hood protector and two that hold on the tailgate protector. Once all three of the strips are pulled off of hood protector, make sure that it's pressed down firmly and evenly across the front, and you're done, and really it doesn't get any easier. The tailgate protector will install much the same way and it also has a lift on it that will clip over the top of the existing tailgate. The two parts together shouldn't take you more than 20 minutes to install even with cleaning the surface. When I first looked at the price tag on these, I thought it seemed a little bit expensive. But when you take these out of the box and you see how they are built, how they are molded, the finish that they have, the fact that they look factory and they fit really, really well all with an easy installation means that these are worth the price, at least in my opinion. They are going to do a good job of protecting those areas that are prone to damage on your Jeep and they look good doing it. So whether you're looking to add some protection against stone throws on the front of your Jeep and the top of your tailgate from sliding things in and out of your open rear window or you're just looking to change the look of your Jeep a little bit, these Bushwacker protectors will definitely get the job done. And, in my opinion, they do it at a price that's really fair for the quality of the product that you get. So that's my review of the Bushwacker Textured Hood and Tailgate Protector, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
