I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com and this is my review of the Barricade Three-Inch Bull Bar with Skid Plate fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. There is a version of this available for the 2007 to 2009 and the 2010 to 2016 Wrangler, so make sure you get the one that fits your Jeep. These are also available in the Gloss Black Powder Coat Finish that you see here and a Textured Black Powder Coat Finish, so you can pick the one that best matches your Wrangler. This Bull Bar is for those of you who don't have a need for or aren't ready for an aftermarket front bumper, but who want to change up the look of the front of their Jeep. This will add a little bit of function in the way of some light mount tabs but other than that it is more of a styling mod than anything else. The skid plate that is included will lose some light brush out of the way but it's not designed for hardcore trail use. And this will decrease your approach angle, so if you're somebody who goes off road a lot, I don't think this is the item for you. However, as far as the Bull Bar goes, this is well built and reasonably priced. This Bull Bar is build from three-inch Round Steel Tubing and the skid plate is right around an eighth of an inch thick, so again, it's not going to hold up against heavy duty trail abuse. The Bull Bar is covered in a black powder coat that is your choice of either a gloss finish that you see here or a textured finish. I really like the textured finish because I think it matches the black plastic on a factory JK really well. The light mount tabs that are on the Bull Bar are a really nice feature. They add a spot to mount some additional auxiliary lighting. While this Bull Bar is designed to be completely bolt-on if you have a factory front bumper on your Jeep, if you decide to install it with an aftermarket front bumper, there may be some cutting or modifications necessary. So installing this Bull Bar on your Jeep if you have a factory front bumper is completely bolt-on, however you will have to do a little bit of trimming of the splash shield if you want to reinstall that after the Bull Bar is in place. The first step in the installation is to attach the included brackets to the frame and then bolt the Bull Bar to those new brackets. Everything that you need is included in the kit and the whole installation shouldn't take you more than two hours using traditional hand tools and sockets. This Bull Bar is priced exactly where I think it should be for the quality of the product and for the look it provides. As we said before, it's not really functional so I personally wouldn't spend a ton of money on it. But if you're somebody who likes the look, I think this is priced really reasonably. So if you're not ready for or don't have the need for a full aftermarket front bumper but you want to change up the look of the front of your Jeep, this is a really nice option. It's well-built, the finish looks good and the installation couldn't be easier. So that's my review of the Barricade Three-Inch Bull Bar with Skid Plate fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Annoyed with install but the bar looks fine
I spent about an hour trying to figure out why the12mm x 25mm Hex Bolt would not screw in. Turns out that the Bolt is not long enough to fasten when the lock washer is on it so you need to install it with just the flat washer. Would have been nice if the company informed people of this in advance especially since it looks like other people have had the same issue. The directions it comes with are bad and the photos are barely visible so stop being cheap and make some better directions. You will need to spend some time in the beginning sorting all the bolts and washers out since nothing is labeled. The set up is very easy once you get everything sorted and you decipher the layout on your own. The front of the bar had some scuffs/scratches which is not cool when you are purchasing something new. Aside from those issues the bar looks fine. I am using it for a little protection from getting bumped by other cars when I am parallel parked on the street until I figure out what I ultimately want to do with the front bumper. For some reason everyone likes to park right up on my Jeep even when there is plenty of space to park and it drives me insane.Helpful (1)

Sharp Looking Bull Bar
Great Bull Bar for someone looking to dress up their Jeep but not necessarily looking to rock crawl. Well made. Directions in the box are not very thorough. Directions on the web site are much easier to follow, but still don’t explain which bolts to use where. Other than that, the final product looks great. Took me two hours to install on my own due to a lot of trial and error with the bolts, but it was recommended and would be easier with two people installing.Helpful (2)

Super easy install
It took me longer to figure out the instructions than it did to install. Utilized a couple youtube videos as the instructions that come with the product are terrible. Once I had it figured out it took me less than 20 minutes to install.Helpful (2)

Affordable Option to Make Your Jeep Look Tough
I wanted to find something to make the front of my Jeep look a little more rugged without having shell out for a full on front bumper/winch. While that'll eventually come, I came across this bull bar and couldn't be happier! It was actually very easy to install and I was about to hoist everything in place by myself (using some muscle). The only difficulty was in cutting and aligning the air dam to fit to the new hardware. A skillsaw some patience will do the trick, but eventually it fits in place. Everyone that sees my Jeep loves the look and says it gives off a secret service / military vibe.Helpful (2)

Does NOT mount very easily on the 75th anniversary edition bumper. The small brackets hit the bottom of the bumper and won't line up. Had to modify them.Helpful (2)

Bull Bar w/ Skid Plate
It seems to be of good quality. A couple of the bolts could be a little longer. Need to supply lock nuts. These can be purchased at your local hardware for a few bucks. I installed it by myself in under a few hours. Looks awesome! Looks great with factory bumper. Replace the splash shield after installation is a bit tricky.Helpful (1)

Worth the challenge
It took a little work to get it on, but it looked great during before I upgraded my entire bumper. Sturdy piece, but sucky instructions.Helpful (1)
Could this take a hit from a deer?
We have heard stories about the Barricade 3 in. Bull Bar w/ Skid Plate still looking great after impact with a deer, but we have not specifically tested the bull bar for an accident like that.
What is the distance of the light mounts? Can I buy 6" lights? Thanks.
Dual 6" lights will mount on this Bull Bar.
How much, if any, does the bull bar interfere with/block the fog lamps?
The Barricade 3 in. Bull Bar w/ Skid Plate should not interfere with the fog lights due to their beam pattern.
Could I put a winch on it?
A winch cannot be mounted on this item.
will this not fit on a 2008? is there a way to modify it to fit because i saw there are two of these. one fit 07-09 and one 10-17. i’m about to buy a used one on Facebook for $40 but it came off a 2012.
Due to design changes from 2009 to 2010, these are not going to fit all JK models, and are year-specific.
The powdercoat will not allow you to ground a light. Exposed metal contact between the terminal, and ground would be required. This can be accomplished by removing a section of powdercoat, or drilling a hole to accept a screw that makes metal contact.
Please send a picture of your bumper and this item number to firstname.lastname@example.org for further assistance.
This item is designed to be used on 2007-2009 Wranglers with the factory bumpers.
Yes, this bull bar will work with a 2018 Wrangler Golden Eagle.
The Barricade 3 in. Bull Bar will weigh in at around 20lbs with a .050" wall thickness tubing.
Unfortunately, this will not fit with the hard rock winch plate, since both parts are required to be bolted into the frame rails.
This bull bar will only work on the 10-18 Wrangler JKs and will not fit the JL Wrangler.
Yes, the Barricade 3 in. Bull Bar is designed for the 2010-18 model Wranglers will be compatible with your 2017 Winter edition.
The Barricade 3 in. Bull Bar w/ Skid Plate in Stainless Steel will be compatible with your 75th anniversary JK bumper as well.
