Is there a way for them to work when the doors are off? A switch or something?
These Power Steps from AMP Research would remain in the up position with the doors off, as long as the door switches are registering as closed, such as when they are disconnected.
I am handicapped so entrance height is very important to me. What is the difference in inches between the stock rubicon with stock mud terrains (I believe they are 31.5's) at the top of the sill plate from the ground, to the top of the powerstep from the ground when down? I want to install a 3 inch lift with 35's or a 3 1/2 inch lift with 37's, but entrance height needs to be similar to the stock height now. Are the numbers any different with the extreme duty cold climate powerstep?
The Amp Research PowerStep will lower approximately 10" below their stowed position allowing for approximately 12" lower surface to step up as opposed to stepping directly in. The Xtreme version adds LED lighting, and increased durability.
How does the step operate with door removed? Does it stay in closed position (up)? I've have several Amp Research Steps on pickup trucks but never on a Wrangler.
The Amp Research PowerStep would remain in the up position with the doors off, as long as the door switches are registering as closed, such as when they are disconnected.
Will these work if you don't have keyless entry, power locks, etc.?
The Amp Research PowerStep deploys when you open or close the drivers or passenger side door, so there should be no issue if you do not have keyless entry or power locks.
can these be installed if you have the factory rock sliders?
Hello, unfortunately you would have to remove your factory rock sliders to be able to install these steps.
