Welcome

CONGRATULATIONS on purchasing new Shock Conversions from JKS Manufacturing. We are committed to providing you with the best products available and your satisfaction is our first priority.

PLEASE READ these Installation Instructions carefully, and save them for future reference, as they contain important installation and maintenance information.

Important

MUST BE INSTALLED with JKS decal facing you (away from vehicle), and 1/2” x 2-1/4” Bolt (C) parallel to axle.

INSTALLATION OF SHOCK CONVERSION effectively reduces static length of shock absorber by 1.10”.

Installation

1. REMOVE SHOCK ABSORBERS

Remove the front wheels to provide unrestricted access to shock absorbers.

Remove front “stem” type shock absorbers per factory service manual instructions for vehicle.

2. INSTALL SHOCK CONVERSION ONTO SHOCK ABSORBER

Insert bushing sleeve into upper bushing of shock absorber. The proper sleeve size is 1/2” ID x 5/8” OD x 1.31” long. HINT: If bushing sleeves were not provided with shock absorbers, or if size is incorrect, it may be necessary to order Rancho© PN 52677 or equivalent from any suspension parts supplier.

Slide top end of shock absorber into Shock Conversion (A) until mounting holes align.

Insert 1/2” x 2-1/4” Bolt (C) and thread into welded nut.

Secure Shock Conversion (A) in a vice and tighten the 1/2” Bolt (C) to 60 ft-lbs. using a torque wrench.

While still secured in the vice, completely thread the M20 Nylock Nut (B) onto threaded stud and remove. HINT: This cuts a groove in the Nylock material, making final installation easier.

3. RE-INSTALL SHOCK ABSORBERS

Insert threaded stud of Shock Conversion (A) through original shock mounting hole in upper fender well of vehicle.

IMPORTANT: Shock Conversion must be positioned with the JKS decal facing you (away from vehicle).

Install the M20 Nylock Nut (B) onto threaded stud of Shock Conversion (A) from above the shock mounting bracket. HINT: Shock may be used as a lever to hold Shock Conversion in position while installing Nylock Nut.

Tighten the M20 Nylock Nut (B) to 80 ft-lbs.

Install shock absorber to lower mount per factory service manual instructions.
