How to Install XT Graphics Windshield Protection Film on your Wrangler

Installation Time

15 hours

Tools Required
  • Spray Bottle for solution
  • Installation Solution: 32 oz. Water, with 4-5 drops off baby shampoo , and 1oz of Isopropyl Alcohol-mixed in the spray bottle
  • Blow Dryer or Heat Gun
  • Felt sleeve wrapped squeegee

STEP 1:

Clean the surface and all edges of the windscreen thoroughly before applying film. This can be done with clean water or any non-alcohol solution. After this is done, clean it again! Keep the area and film free from dirt, debris, or any contaminants. Wash your hands thoroughly before handling the film then always keep them saturated/wet during the install to prevent permanent fingerprints in the adhesive.

STEP 2:

After the windshield is thoroughly clean, liberally spray the solution onto the windshield. The film installs exactly like window tint or vinyl graphics. The film should slide or float into place. Then gently remove the clear liner from the security film. An extra pair of hands will make this part of the installation easier. You may also need to spray some of the solution onto the film to alleviate any static build-up. Once the liner is removed, then gently position and tack the security film onto the windscreen. Once it is tacked on, liberally spray the outside of the film with the solution. This will provide a lubrication layer to help the squeegee more easily glide over the film. Then use the squeegee to press down the film, squeezing the water out from underneath the film. The best method while doing this is to start in the center and squeegee the water out to the edges. You may use towels to help absorb the moisture that collects at the edges.

IMPORTANT: A BLOW DRYER OR HEAT GUN MAY BE NEEDED TO HELP SOFTEN THE FILM TO ASSIST IN MOLDING TO THE CURVATURE OF THE WINSCREEN AND ELIMINATING ANY WRINKLES (FINGERS).

After the film has been squeegeed and the film applied, there may still be some moisture at the edges. You can use the blow dryer to help accelerate the evaporating process.

STEP 3:

IMPORTANT: ALLOW 24 HOURS FOR FILM TO COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE DRIVING OR WASHING CAR.

The curing time for complete moisture/condensation evaporation varies with temperature and sunlight exposure. Any trapped moisture will evaporate over time. If any large excess spots of installation solution are found trapped underneath the film, can be either pushed to the edge (if close enough), or released with sewing needle.

To maintain the film, you should wash weekly using non ammonia window cleaner.
