It's Joe from ExtremeTerrain. In this video, we're gonna be going over the Smoked LED Tail Lights fitting all '16 and newer Tacomas. This is gonna be a great option for you if you're looking to get that smoked and chrome look with a budget-friendly tail light, that's going to convert the rear of your truck over to LEDs and remain completely 100% plug and play. So, what do we have going on with these tail lights? Let's hit on the obvious first. We have a smoke lens over top of a chrome housing which is really gonna contribute to that blackout look. As far as our lights go, these are converting the standard halogen bulbs over to LED. The conversion is completely on board and these are 100% plug and play. Our new brake lights are gonna be these vertical lines in between that sort of fiber optic diffused accent light. We have reflectors in factory-ish locations and down here we have our standard halogen reverse light bulb. This specific tail light is also available with a couple of different options as well. If you're not a fan of this one, we do got you covered. This is also available with that standard red lens, the clear lens and this one right here, which has the smoke lens and you can have this chrome housing underneath or a black housing as well. These tail lights are also DOT and SAE approved. So, no matter what state you live in, these are gonna pass inspection every time. Next up let's talk a little bit about price. Simply put, these are gonna be the most budget-friendly tail light upgrade we have on the site coming in right around 280 bucks. This is a really budget-friendly way to upgrade the rear of your truck. Install is gonna be very, very easy as well. I mentioned earlier that the LED conversion is completely on board. These are 100% plug and play. They're really easy to do. You can get it done in about 15 minutes to half an hour. One out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter here for sure. But without any further ado, let me show you what tools you might need and how it's done.Tools you might need for this install will include a 10-millimeter socket and something to turn it with it. I use the impact gun. You could also use the hand ratchet. So, first thing we're gonna do for this install, go ahead and drop the tailgate, grab the impact with that 10-millimeter socket. There's a bunch of 10s on this inside lip here. We're only gonna remove two of them and then the taillight is gonna fall right out. So, the two we're gonna have to remove is this guy right here, second one down from the top, and this one all the way at the bottom. Now you can go ahead and grab the tail light, pull straight back. That will come off like so. You see that pin right there is basically what holds it in after you get the bolts out.Back here we have our harnesses, we're just gonna press down on the release tab. Those out of the way, same thing with this one at the bottom for our reverse light. With the old tail light removed, we can grab our new stuff. Before we install this, we're gonna have to install this little control box here. Looks like there's some sort of heatsink inside of that. It's got some 3M double-sided tape on the back. So, we're just go pull that away, and that can stick in place. You're gonna go right about there, that should be out of the way. Then after that, we're just gonna plug back in our harnesses and reinstall the bolts. So, now that we have one side completely installed, I figure now would be the perfect time to stop down and point out the differences between these two sets of tail lights. As you can see, we're going over to a smoked lens with the chrome housing underneath, which is gonna give you more of a blackout look than that standard red taillight lens. Our new unit is also gonna feature a nice fiber optics style diffused running light around the brake lights, which are now vertical, they're LEDs. Definitely a huge upgrade from that standard halogen tail light over on the opposite side as well. Another small thing I noticed is this reflector right here on the factory one, it's sort of vertical. This one has it flipped on its side below the brake light. These tail lights do have some similarities as well. The lens is gonna be the same exact shape. So you get these aerodynamic streaks down the side. That's gonna stay the same. Over here, we do have a reflector in the factory position as well for the side and our reverse light is gonna keep that standard halogen setup as well. So, without any further ado, we're gonna drop the tailgate here, get the other side wrapped up in the same exact way. We're gonna start by removing those two 10-millimeter bolts and then we pull straight back on the tail light to remove it.Disconnect the harnesses by pressing down on the release tabs. Now we can grab our new light, go ahead and stick that control box in place. Probably would be a good idea to clean that area as well just to make sure that sticks nice and tight. Then we could replug in our harnesses. Snap it into place and secure it with the two 10-millimeter bolts. That's gonna do it for my review and install of the smoke LED tail lights fitting all '16 and newer Tacomas. For everything Tacoma, make sure you keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
