Storage Construction. Made from strong aluminum that's then powder coated, every slat on the Surco Safair Rack Flooring kit is well built, sturdy, and solid. If you have hefty gear you need to add to your rack, like spare tires, steamer trunks, or oversized coolers, this rack will give you the added space to do just that. You can also pack smaller items that typically fall through the cracks, like fishing poles and sleeping bags. These slats close those gaps so you can travel with confidence.

Storage Specs. Not only will this flooring kit add surface area and fill in the gaps, but it adds rigidity, which gives you more confidence in your rack. It's custom designed to work specifically with Safari Roof Racks and fits either a 45 inch by 60 inch or 50 inch by 60 inch Safari Rack. All the mounting hardware comes with the kit, and installation is a simple bolt-on process. Surco makes this product in the United States, and it's covered by a 90-day manufacturer's warranty.

Application. This optional flooring kit works with 1987-2018 YJ, TJ, JK and JL Wranglers that have the Surco Safari rack installed. Can be used with 45 x 60 and 50 x 60 Safari racks.

How can I mount a Rugged Ridge Overlander tent on my Jeep without using the uber ugly exoskeleton-type roof rack. Looks like the Surco would do the job if it had more horizontal tubes on it. Will this tent work on this rack? Do you have additional horizontal tubes available?

    • The Surco Safari Rack and other racks of this style will be unable to mount a tent as they are limited in weight capacity due to mounting on the top.

How much will this optional flooring kit add to the overall load capacity while parked and driving?

    • By using the Surco Safari Rack Flooring Kit, the load capacity is not altered. This piece is designed to add rigidity and surface area.

I see in the sweepstakes areas that people are saying (they have the CJ, TJ, YJ JK). How do I find out what mine is? Mine is the Gobi Desert color, 2017 Wrangler, Rubicon, Unlimited, 4 door, 4X4 that I had to order and got a month ago. I want to order several things for it like (a roof rack, a wench, a snorkle and foot rails and spare tire cover) so I guess I need to know what it is...?

    • The Wrangler's are Split up by 2 letter codes assigned by Jeep based on the Wrangler's year. 2007-2017 are all JK's with the 4 door being called a JKU (JK Unlimited). 1997-2006 are TJ's (the extended wheelbase is often called an LJ) and the 1987-1995 is the YJ. CJ's came before the Wrangler name was chosen.

I just bought this, and now I realize I am missing a lot. What else do I need to buy to make a top mounted basket on a JK?

    • This is just the optional floor kit for the basket, which can be found here: https://www.extremeterrain.com/surco-safari-hard-top-rack-jk-s5060-j600.html.

Fills wide gaps in the basket floor.

The basket has only three slats. The flooring kit fills the wide gaps in the floor of the basket. It is much simpler to install as the basket is being assembled.

      missing couple parts

rack seems solid, how ever it is missing 3 retenrion nuts that secure rack to base and 3 corrisponding screws. now i have to figure out another sub par way to secure it. its just to big to return and otherwise looks as described and fairly solid.

      Fantastic!

While the instructions could have been a little better, this is a fantastic non-permanent roof rack. I was concerned about the bolts coming loose overtime, but I have used this off-road and on and after 4 months this has never once loosened. It does not rattle and carry's a load well. Install took about 2 hours, but you definitely need a second person to install the side brackets.

      Flaring kit

Easy to install despite there is no instruction sheet. But it didn't tell you was that the roof cargo carrier had to be partially disassembled to install the flooring KIT.

      I wouldn't get another one

I bought this product to create more cargo space for my jeep. The first thing that happened in the hot Texas summer heat was the indentations in my hard top at the rear of the rack where you tighten the rear metal straps down. The other thing I don't like is the rattling sound it makes when it is empty. The third thing I don't like is that it is hard to load and unload without a ladder. It does stay on securely and it did carry my extra luggage. I should've save $200 and bought a trailer hitch rack instead.

      Great rack!

This is a solid well designed rack. I chose the Surco rack because it didn't require drilling any holes in the roof or factory bumper. It took about 2 hours to put all of the pieces together and mount it to the jeep. I was impressed that with all of the screws required it was an exact count of everything, no less, no extras. I purchased the extra flooring and added them in from the start which is good because you'd have to add slide screws to the cross bars which would be a pain if I had already put everything together. I wish the rack had a lower profile, the floor of the rack sits about 4 to 6 inches above the roof of my jeep and my stock jeep now only has about 1/2 inch clearance pulling into my garage. When I decide to add a lift kit I'll have to remove the rack if I want to park it in the garage. Once the rack is put together it only takes 15 mins to install or remove so I'm not to worried about that. I am getting ready for a trip from Phoenix AZ to Portland OR and back and I'm confident the rack will perform well.

      Surco Safari roof rack

Great rack, easy installation, and you've the option of easily uninstalling it. Minuses of this roof rack are the vibrating noise of the flooring, it's easy fix w/ zip ties. When going over rough terrain the bolts will loosen.

      Must get

I ordered the rack and the flooring kit in the same purchase. I put together the rack first to see if I even needed the flooring kit. The gaps between the bottom of the rack was to big to even keep a ice chest strapped down secure. The flooring kit made it look better and fixed that issue.

Makes a difference in carrying capacity

Really expands what I can carry in the rack. Bit of a finagle to assemble; lots of little fasteners. Probably would have helped to actually read the directions first. But I am really pleased with how it turned out.

      Surco Safari Rack Inserts

These inserts are well worth it if you plan on putting smaller items on the roof. I honestly think they should be standard...but.
