Hey. What's up, guys? I'm Ryan from Extreme Terrain and today I'm here with the Steinjager Trail Tube Doors fitting your 1997 to 2006 Jeep Wrangler. This is gonna be for the Jeep owner that's looking to change up the appearance of their Jeep with some stylish tube doors to give them a little extra freedom and that fresh air feel. This is a great way to stay legal on the road in states that require doors while still getting that doorless feeling. This is perfect for the off-roading enthusiast because this is gonna provide protection, keeping you and your passengers safe inside, but it's still gonna allow you to see the trail through the door. These are made from heavy-duty cold formed steel 1-1/4 inch tubing. The whole thing's finished off with a gloss black powder coating. This is gonna give them corrosion protection. It's also gonna give them a sleek and rugged look. Now, these doors come in a number of colors which we offer on our site, and these black ones are gonna pretty much blend into any color scheme. Now with removing the factory doors, we are losing that factory mirror, however, these allow you to mount that factory mirror back on there or any aftermarket OEM style mirror. Insulation is relatively simple as these slide into the factory hinges and since they utilize a pin to latch them onto the body, there's no real latch assembly or adjustment needed. Currently, these are around $200 on the site, making them your most affordable option and not only that, but these are made right here in the USA. As far as installation goes, I am gonna give it a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter as you can install these in about 15 minutes using basic hand tools. Now with that being said, let's hop into the install. Tools we used for this install, 3/8 drive ratchet, 5-millimeter Allen. The first thing we need to do is take our door off, so we're gonna open it up. There's a pull strap in there. We're gonna unhook that, and then we're just going to lift it up off the hinges and set it in a safe spot. Once you remove the factory door, next thing we're gonna do is slide this new tube door into the hinges. Now if you do have any issues with this sliding all the way down there, you may want to loosen up this lower hinge just to tweak it a little bit and then it'll sit all the way down in there. So with each door, you're gonna get a latch kit. This latch kit is going to include a lanyard. It's gonna include a pin. You're gonna have a latch and a long bolt with two washers. So we're gonna start with the latch, and what we're gonna do is we're gonna take this long bolt that they give us, we're gonna place a washer on there. This is gonna go through the tube door out the other side. We're gonna place another washer on there, then we're gonna screw this onto there and we'll close it and we'll tighten that up with a 5-millimeter. So after we get this on, we want to close the door. We're gonna install this pin. This pin has a little self-locking mechanism on it, so you're just gonna have to push that hard down through that latch. Once we get that where we want it, we're gonna take a 5-millimeter Allen and we're gonna tighten this bolt up. Now, if you do have too much play in this door, you can remove that inside washer and that's gonna pull it a little closer. So the next thing we wanna do is attach our lanyard. So you're going to have two loops. We're going to pass this around the door and then it's gonna go through itself. After that, you can pull this pin back out and then we're just gonna attach that onto there and that's gonna to keep you from losing that pin. Once that's done, you can put it back in the door, then you can do the same thing for the other side. So that's gonna wrap up my review and install. Good quality product, but, dissappointing fit!
These "Tube Doors" came about 1/2" to short (had to modify to get to fit properly in a 2001 Wrangler Sport). They also were not able to fit into the door mounting brackets without some heating and bending. The product itself was a good quality, paint was good also. Overall, a good product, just know going in that they may have to be modified a bit to fit properly on your Wrangler.Helpful (14)
What style side mirrors do you suggest with these doors?
We have two kits that would work just fine with this. Steinjager makes mirrors that attach to these doors, linked below. https://www.extremeterrain.com/steinjager-tube-door-mirror-kit-textured-black-9706-tj.html They also make mirrors (we have other options for this as well) that attach to your A-Pillar when you take your doors off. https://www.extremeterrain.com/steinjager-apillar-mounted-mirror-black-9706-tj.html
How are these secured to the vehicle body! Do they use a cotter pin type lock or some other method to secure them?
These will be installed using a pin on a split ring, a cable/lanyard, a bolt, clevis, 2 washers and all you will need to install them will be a 5mm Allen Wrench.
Does the hardware come with it that secures the doors when closed?
These tube doors will come with a pin, and clevis system to hold the doors closed while driving.
