How to Install Snyper Evap Canister Skid Plate on your Wrangler

When you unpack the box, you should have the following:
1. [1] skid plate base
2. [1] front bracket
3. [1] rear bracket
4. [4] allen screws
5. [4] washers
6. [4] nuts
7. [1] 4 mm allen wrench

Find the stock evap canister skid plate:
It is located towards the back of the jeep next to the drive shaft:

Removing the stock evap canister skid plate:
1. Using a 13 mm socket and a 13 mm box wrench to loosen and remove the bolt to the rear of the skid plate.

2. Once that bolt is loose, you can slide the evap canister closer to the opening which will make unplugging the hoses and connector a bit easier.
3. Unplug the connector located in the middle by carefully sliding a small flat screwdriver into the tab and push it out slightly, you should hear a small pop sound once it’s out fully. Once you push open the tab, the connector should easily come disconnected with a slight pull.

4. Disconnect the two hoses to the right by very carefully using a flat screw driver to loosen the “teeth” and then pull the “horseshoe” shaped retaining clip out. The top clip comes out to the left as shown here.

5. The bottom clip comes out straight down as shown here.

6. Once the retaining clips are loose, you will be able to pull on the tubes and remove them.
7. Now it’s time to disconnect the hose to the left of the evap canister, rather than disconnect it right at the evap canister, you are going to disconnect it about a foot up closer to the frame of the Jeep. To disconnect this hose, move the small tab up so it no longer is locked in place. Once this is unlocked, you can pull the hose and it will disconnect.

8. Once all three hoses are disconnected and the connector is unplugged, use a 16 mm socket to loosen and remove the three bolts holding the skid plate to the frame of the jeep.

Installing the new Snyper evap canister skid plate:
1. Assemble the brackets onto the new skid plate. When assembling the brackets, the front side is the side above the word “Snyper” on the skid plate and the rear side is the side below the word “Snyper” on the skid plate.
2. The bracket that will go on the rear side of the skid plate has one hole in the top.

3. The bracket that will go on the front side of the skid plate has two holes in the top.

4. Using the screws, washers, and nuts that came with the kit, fasten the rear bracket onto the INSIDE of the skid plate with the screw head facing out. First, put the washer on the screw, then put the screw through the hole with the nut so it looks like this. Do not tighten all the way. (Note the direction of the screw head is facing out and the nut is facing in)

5. Using the screws, washers, and nuts that came with the kit, fasten the front bracket onto the INSIDE of the skid plate with the nut facing out. Put the washer on the screw first, then put the screw through the hole and with the nut so it looks like this. Do not tighten all the way. (Note the direction of the screw head is facing in and the nuts are out)

6. The fully assembled product should look like this.

7. Place the evap canister into the fully assembled skid plate and assuming everything fits correctly, tighten the four bolts connecting the brackets to the skid plate using the 4 mm allen wrench and a 10 mm box wrench.

8. Apply the anti-seize lubricant to the stock 13 mm bolt that holds the evap canister to the skid plate. Use a 13 mm socket and 13 mm box wrench to screw in the bolt so the evap canister is mounted onto the skid plate prior to installing it onto the Jeep.
9. Once the evap canister has been mounted onto the skid plate, apply the anti-seize lubricant to the three stock 16 mm bolts. Use a 16 mm socket and the three stock 16 mm bolts to attach the full assembly to the Jeep.
10. Connect the three hoses along with the connector back to their original positions. Remember to push all tabs and clips back to their original positions as well so the hoses and connector are locked in place.

Final Install:
Enjoy your new fully installed Snyper evap canister skid plate.
