Ryan: This Smittybilt XRC Slant Back Tire Mount is for those of you that have a 2007 to 2018 JK that have a Smittybilt XRC or SRC tire carrier or tire carrier pivot mount. This is designed specifically to work with those two tire carrier options from Smittybilt, this cannot be installed on a factory tire carrier or factory tailgate without those options. But if you have one of those two tire carriers, this is going to modify that to allow you to mount the tire at a 45-degree angle or mount it straight up and down, so you're gonna have a variety of different options there. And I think a lot of you are gonna like that 45-degree angle if you have a fastback soft top or hard top installed on your Jeep, that slant's gonna follow the rear window and it looks really good. This is going to be a very easy piece to bolt into place, one out of three wrenches. Again, this is designed to work with those two Smittybilt tire carriers, so if you have one, this is a bolt-on install, no drilling, no cutting, no major modification of the Jeep necessary, it just bolts into place. And if you have one of the Smittybilt tire carriers and you're looking for a way to mount your tire on an angle, this is really gonna be the only option for you but it's still going to be a very affordably priced one. So even if there were some other options out there, I would steer you toward this one, it's a bolt-on install and it's very affordable. As for construction, this is gonna be mostly 3/16-inch cold rolled steel covered in a textured black powder coat finish. So it is going to be very strong for you and it needs to be because spare tires can be very heavy, especially when you have them sitting up there on the angle perched atop the tire carrier, there's a lot of weight moving around. So this is going to be plenty strong for you. You can see here, this piece has a ton of gusseting, this back piece is actually probably closer to a 1/4-inch, that's nice and thick. You will notice a lot of holes, so you have a ton of holes in this piece here all the way up and down the side. You have a lot of different holes in this piece here. So, you're gonna have some adjustability, some options with exactly how high you mount it and if you wanna mount it straight or you wanna mount it on the angle. You'll also have some additional mounting holes here and here, and those are going to be for things like a Hi-Lift Jack or gas cans, you do have some accessory mounts that you can purchase from Smittybilt that will then bolt right onto this piece as well.I mentioned before, I think this is a very affordable price for what you're getting here, this is right around $150 for this setup. Granted that's on top of either a Smittybilt tire carrier or bumper tire carrier combination that you've already spent money on. But if you've already purchased that and you're just looking to make the modification to allow you to mount the tire on an angle, I do think this is pretty affordable and you're gonna get something nice and strong that is a bolt-on option. Now I'll have a member of our install team show you how you get this bolted up.Man: Tools required for this installation: a 19-millimeter wrench, 18-millimeter wrench, sockets ranging from 16 all the way up to 19, a 3/8 drive with an extension, and optional is an impact. So before we get this started, I do wanna show you that we are running the Smittybilt SRC Gen 2 rear bumper with tire carrier. So first up, we are going to remove our spare tire and get that old setup off so we can get that Slant Back style on. This is just a 19-millimeter socket for my lug nuts up here. So next up, we're gonna remove this old straight up and down system and I just have a 16-millimeter socket and a 17-millimeter wrench on the backside. So with our tire carrier stripped down, we can now start assembling a couple things, we're gonna do this off the car just because it's a little bit easier. So we have our big backplate here and what we're gonna do is take our Slant Back section here and we're going to position it pretty high up because we want it to look a little aggressive. Gonna put a couple bolts in here to make it stay. Top each bolt off with a washer and one of these nylock nuts. Then we're gonna go ahead and tighten these down with a 19-millimeter wrench on the nut and an 18-millimeter socket on the bolt head.So one thing we have to do now is actually hit our lug studs into our tire carrier itself. So what we're gonna do is flip this upside down like that. Now our lug pattern is that right there, what we're gonna do is take these out, take a hammer and as evenly as we can, drive this lug home.So to make installation of that big back rack, what we're gonna do is remove our heim joint right here so we're gonna have access to those bolts. There we go. Then we can just get easy access with tools and whatever we need. So let me go get that. All right. So here's our back rack, and I have Rob coming in here to help me hold the front of this. We're gonna line it up just like that. So, Rob, you wanna grab that. Let me get some bolts here and just start this one here. So on the backside, we are putting a washer and a nut. All right. Rob, you wanna hit the front of that. Thanks, Rob. Now I can get the other two bolts started and finished. All right. Now with the back rack in place, what we're gonna do is connect our heim joint back up, again, 19 on the bottom, 18 on the top. Test it out, still works perfect. All right, guys. Now, I got a buddy, Rob, to help me out because this tire is a little heavy, we are running 35s and we have to get it in a high-up place. So, Rob, you wanna grab a side. That's going to wrap of my install of the Smittybilt XRC Slant Back Tire Mount Kit for your Jeep JK. And for all things Wrangler, keep it here at extremeterrain.com.
