How to Install Smittybilt Overlander XL Roof Top Tent on your Jeep Wrangler

Installation Instructions:


1. Remove tent from packaging using a box cutter (or knife), pliers and wire cutters (Figure A).

2. Set the tent on its side with easy access to the bottom (Figure B).

3. Using 6mm bolts and washers (supplied), thread into place in the pre-drilled holes between the base and the mattress (Figure C).

4. Move the mounting rails into place over the bolts (Figure D).

5. Slide the 6mm nyloc nuts into the top of the mounting rails and screw the 6mm bolts in, tightening the tent base to the mounting rails using a 10mm wrench (Figure E).

6. Using self-tapping screws and washers (provided), attach the outside edges of the mounting rails to the tent base through the pre-drilled holes (Figure F).

7. Mount the ladder brackets to the ladder with a 10mm wrench using 6x20mm bolts, washers, plastic washers, spring washers, and nuts (provided) (Figure G).

8. Mount the ladder brackets to the tent base using 4x6x40mm bolts (provided) through the pre-drilled holes using a 10mm wrench (Figure H).

9. Slide the mount bolts into each mounting rail and tighten supplied bracket to roof rack (configuration will depend on each vehicle's roof rack).

10. Remove the protective cover if this hasn’t already been done and undo the Velcro straps on each of the sides of the tent.

11. Slide out the ladder to full extension and walk it backward to unfold/open the tent (Figure I).

12. Slide each of the dowel rods (supplied) into the pre-drilled holes under each window and run the hook, facing downward, through the riveted hole on each window cover flap (Figure J).
