    5 Top Rated Questions

I drive a 2011 JKU hardtop. I don't want to buy door surrounds as I don't even use a soft top. Would I be able to mound this product without the surrounds? I see that it also mounts to the roll bar and factory rails, but would those be enough mounting points that it would stay secure? I wouldn't want it flapping around every time I go above 20 mph.

    • Hello, you would need Door Surrounds to be able to mount this Cargo Restraint System.

How much weight can the netting hold before breaking?

    • Hello, the netting is not rated to support weight, we wouldn't be able to guarantee that it would support anything on it.

How does this handle at highway speeds??

    • This will handle highway speeds just fine.

I have a 2008 JK Hardtop but am looking to by this project for my Jeep. What are the part numbers for the tailgate channel and door surroundings that I need to install this? And where can I buy them?

    • Thank you for your question! You will need the rear door surrounds for this cargo net as well as the tailgate bar. We do not offer the door surrounds separately at the moment and only in a kit for the complete soft top hardware. We do offer the tailgate bar separately. I listed a link below for the tailgate bar and tailgate bar retainers. https://www.extremeterrain.com/bestop-tailgate-bar-jk-5260101.html

I was wondering if I only need the rear door surrounds and tailgate bar or do I also need the front door surrounds

    • The Smittybilt Cargo Restraint System requires use of factory tailgate bar and door surrounds for installation. 2007-2009 Models must have Factory Door Surrounds and Tailgate Channel for proper installation, while 2010+ models with a wrap around roll bar will need a tailgate channel.

I'm having trouble getting the net to attach to the horizontal bar on my 14 jku door surrounds. I thought I stumbled across directions somewhere about modifying the door surrounds to allow for installation. However, I cant seem to find these directions now. Can you address how to fit this area please? Thanks 1 answer
Under your technical note it specifically mentions tailgate bar and door surrounds for 07-09, and anything above 2010 only the tailgate bar. I have a 2013 JKU and no door surrounds. I am running the net now, but regardless of the technical note wording, you recommend door surrounds? 1 answer
Do your doors need to be on to have the cargo netting on? Or can you take off the hard top and just put it on with no doors or top? 1 answer

      Smittybilt cargo top

I'm extremely satisfied with this top. We bought it to help keep our dogs in the back of the Jeep when we take them for rides. It was very easy to install. Takes only about 10min

      Not Bad

Cargo net sets the appearance off definitely. Looks good . Takes it a lil while to get it stretched out and set where it needs to be but is easy to put on .

      Just what I needed!

I was looking for a net system to work with my OEM soft top that would zip in when I had the 3 rear panels removed, well since I could not find any such product I purchased this really well made yet affordable net system, took apart the panels and modified it to what I needed! It worked out perfect as now I have the full cargo area netted to put my dog back there instead of having the net follow the roll cage and I can still install the 3 rear panels and lower the soft top =)

      Cargo restraint

Pretty disappointed. It does not fit snug on the upper sides. Almost blew off on the interstate.

      Almost perfect

It's great! But I feel like I'm missing some parts because it's not a tight fit like the picture and has the big gap by the back door

      Pretty good

It looks great but Unless you have door surrounds, this will flap around. You need a rear channel bar too.

      Love it!

I love my net very easy to install only took about 1/2 hour. I got to keep dogs inside while driving them down to the river. It's also very easy to unzip back to load dogs.

      Great fit

Good fit, easy to install. Little bit of an issue of you have a spiderweb sunshade, both use the same hole for tie down and the straps get in the way of each other causing you to angle the straps creating a slightly lifted spot on the edge in the middle. Able to use trail cover without talking anything apart.

      Smittybilt Cargo Net

Bought cargo net when it went on sale in the early spring for $109. When I first opened the box I wasn't sure I liked it because you need to remove it to put your soft top up. I put it on ,which is super easy, and I love it. When I do need to put the soft top up the cargo net comes off just as easy. So instead of spending more give the Smittybilt Cargo Net look. Now I don't worry about my dogs hanging too far out.
