This Rugged Ridge 2-inch by 6-foot Tree Trunk Protector, or more commonly, a tree saver, is for those of you that have a 1987 all the way up through the most current model year Wrangler that have a winch installed on your Jeep, and are looking for a strap that allows you to winch to any tree out there without causing damage to the tree. This is a very easy piece to use, no installation here, so we're not going to rate it on the wrench scale, but I will talk about how you use this in just a second. So, again, this is very important to have if you have a winch. You don't want to just wrap the winch line around the tree and hook it to itself. That can strip the bark off of the tree all the way around, which will kill the tree. The tree won't be there for you to use the next time you need it or for a buddy or somebody else who's running that trail. So, this is very, very important to have in your recovery kit if you have a winch on your Jeep, and you plan on winching to a tree. As for pricing, this is going to be pretty fairly priced for what you're going to get here. There are going to be some other options that are going to be pretty similar in cost. I like this one from Rugged Ridge, it's going to get the job done. The most important thing about a tree saver is that it is not a recovery strap. This is not stretchy. This has no stretch to it, so it's not going to damage the tree. As for construction, as it says in the title, this is 2 inches by 6 feet. It's going to have two loops on it. This is a mildew-resistant nylon material, 20,000-pound pulling capacity. And it is really designed for one thing and that's to wrap around the tree so that you can hook your winch line to it. It's not going to stretch, it's not going to strip the bark off of that tree, and it's not going to hurt the tree. Again, very, very important to have if you have a winch on your Jeep.As far as how to use this, you simply pull it out of your recovery bag, loop it around the tree, put the two loops of the tree saver together, use a D-ring or soft D-ring, or if the hook on your winch is large enough, just go ahead and hook it right through the two loops on this, finish your recovery, disconnect the winch line, and put this back in your recovery bag. Very, very simple to use, but very, very important. This tree saver is gonna run you around 30 bucks, I think that's a good deal. This is going to be nice and strong. It's going to work for you. It's going to get the job done and most importantly, it doesn't have any stretch to it, which is exactly what you want for a tree saver. So, if you have a winch on your Jeep, you're looking for a tree saver, I would recommend this choice from Rugged Ridge and you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Jim H, 2010 Jeep Wrangler JKWeb Development My dad would always take me trail riding in the Pine Barrens as a kid when I lived in South Jersey, so I’ve always been into four wheel drive trucks and Jeeps. When the time came for me to get a vehicle, I picked up an old Cherokee. I still have that old Jeep strictly for offroading, but after a few...
