This part is made out of smoked ABS plastic but can be scuffed, primed, and painted to match your Jeep's overall color if desired.

Construction. The Hood Vent Scoop is manufactured out of ABS plastic by Rugged Ridge, in a smoked color. The part can be mounted with the opening facing forward or backward. Attachment is easy, using double sided 3M automotive application tape. No drilling is needed. Both the air conditioning and heating is made more efficient with this part installed. This ram induction hood scoop is UV treated to resist sunlight damage. It is covered by a 5 year limited manufacturer's warranty.

        4 Top Rated Questions

Quick question, I like the look of this device, but I am uncertain which way it is supposed to face. Some pictures show the opening facing forward and others show the opening closer to the windshield. Which is the proper way to install?

If I leave my Jeep outside in the rain, the passenger side foot well will have water in it. Will this stop this?

        • This item will not stop water from coming into your Jeep.

I am looking for a vent cover of some sort for winter conditions. To clarify during freezing rain the windshield wiper mechanism freezes and render the windshield wipers inoperable. Would this item work or do you have items specifically designed for this?

        • This may help keep some weather off of the wiper mechanism but may also direct some other weather into the opening. That vent on the cowl is there for the HVAC system to work efficiently and should not be closed up.

What about dust? Does it bring more dust into cab?

        • This would not bring any more dust into the cab no.

            Hood scoop

Pretty cool scoop and looks good on my jeep. It is a bit thin so you would not want to use it as a air vent.

            Great for cowl air intakes

Does a great job of reducing the debris and rain getting into the cowl. I installed a cowl air intake to my LJ so this was the perfect piece for the project

            Rugged Ridge Hood Vent

Great product and ridiculously easy install. Can definitely tell a difference in the air output and the amount of time it takes to heat/cool

Air Intake cover was exactly what it said it was.looks awesome some people said they had to drill a hole in the cover to accommodate the screw it will cover up,but just take the screw out 1st then tape cover down. screw not really needed anyway

            Cost-effective engine compartment cooling

I first read about this product and liked the theory of this uncomplicated device: that at speed it generates a low pressure zone that helps draw more heat out of the engine compartment than would normally escape through the vents, and I figured that for the price it is a low risk venture to extend component life in the compartment. Its too soon to give an accurate measurement of its efficiency, but the theory is sound enough and worth a shot.

            Nice addition to the Jeep

The hood vent scoop is a great addition to my Jeep. It’s a nice little accessory that gives your ride just a little bit of an extra edge. It was very easy to apply and hasn’t moved at all while driving.

            Straight Forward Install

Cant get much easier than this install. Just peel the adhesive tape cover off and stick. It looks good the way it comes but I'm considering painting it to match my color.
