    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review of the Rugged Ridge Fuel Cover fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This cover is available in both black and a chrome style finish, in aluminum or stainless steel, and in a locking and non-locking version. So whatever you need for your Jeep, we have you covered. The fuel filler cap on our JKs is left exposed which can give it a little bit more of that rugged Jeep look and also follows in line with its ancestry, but if you're one of those people who thinks that looks a little bit unfinished, a fuel cover is a really nice option. While this is mostly a visual modification you can get a locking version of this which will add some function if you have concerns about people getting into your fuel tank. I like this fuel cover in particular because they do offer different materials, finishes, and functions, and they do it all at a really fair price. Once you decide to go with a Rugged Ridge Fuel Cover you will have a couple of decisions to make. As I mentioned they offer this in both stainless steel and aluminum. Now a low grade stainless will rust if it's exposed to the elements, and aluminum will oxidize if it's exposed to the elements. So to be honest I don't see a huge benefit of purchasing one over the other, and the prices are only marginally different. So you choose which ever one you like. After you choose the material you will choose the finish. I prefer the gloss black, but there's also a chrome style version available. Being honest I would like to see Rugged Ridge offer this in a textured black powder coat finish because I think it matches a lot of the black plastic accents on the Jeep a little bit better than the gloss version does. Finally you'll decide if you want the locking or non-locking version of the cover. The locking version offers some added security that a lot of people like while others find it inconvenient to need a key every time you fill up your Jeep. If you decide to go with the non-locking version you'll have a magnetic clasp to make sure that the door stays closed when it should, and all the versions feature a rivet pattern around the outside which gives the door a little bit of style. Getting these fuel doors installed on your Jeep is a really simple process. All you need to do is hold the fuel door up over the factory fuel cap and make sure that it's level. Once you have it leveled and positioned where you like you can mark the four holes, and drill four small pilot holes into the plastic bezel around the fuel filler. After that all you need to do is install the four screws that are included in the kit and you're done. The whole process shouldn't take you more than half an hour and all you'll need is a drill, a drill bit, and a screw driver. Now even though this is mostly a visual modification unless of course you get the locking version, and you have that additional function, I do think that these are fairly priced. They drastically change the look of the Jeep and you're able to get a lot of different options, and really customize what you want for your vehicle when you go with the Rugged Ridge version of the fuel cover. They're a lot of other versions out there that are right around the same price that may or may not give you quite as many options. It's important to note that the factory Mopar version of the fuel door cover is available for only a few dollars more. So it comes down to what you want for your Jeep. So if you're one of those people who doesn't like the look of the exposed fuel cap on the side of your JK, and you want something that's gonna finish off the look. But you also want options for finish, material, and locking versus non-locking I think the Rugged Ridge Fuel Cover is the way to go. They offer all of that at what I think is a pretty fair price. So that's my review of the Rugged Ridge Fuel Cover fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Quick and easy upgrade to vehicle

The fuel cap is solid and pretty easy to install. You do have to drill in four corners to install the cap. I would predrill a pilot hole for ease of inserting the screws. Took about 10 minute's to install. Looks great and the cap stays close with magnets. Only complaint is that it moves slightly as the fuel cap module moves slightly. At first I was concerned this may scratch the paint but it doesn't appear the new cap cover sits up against the body of the car. With this initial fear gone I am glad I purchased this product and is a quick and easy upgrade and looks sharp.

      Super easy to install!

I was a bit nervous about how I was going to install this on my own (I don't do well with power tools!) To my surprise no power tools were needed, and I installed it solo in under an hour! It looks great and dresses up the fuel cap nicely! Definitely recommend this to other Jeep owners!

Nice look, Easy Install, Lasts about 6 months

Very easy to install and looks great. Mine held on for right around 6 months, now the door has lost its magnets and will not stay closed. I would not recommend this gas door unless you don't plan on keeping your Jeep long. Purchase the better door.

Refined look for your Jeep in less than 10min

Great value compared to others and a gives your jeep a very clean look. Installed in less than 10min. Marked position with grease pencil to ensure that it was installed perfectly upright and hinge was at exactly 9 o'clock position, then carefully used a power screwdriver to drill in included screws.

Took me ten minutes to install and is very secure. Solid construction and clean look. Magnets hold the door closed well. Glad I didn't pay extra for the mopar OEM version.

      great product

This item was as described and worked well. The fit was a bit loose but it may be because I was nervous to tighten completely. The plastic wasn't exactly thick (maybe 1/8th inch thick). Either way, it worked.
