Hey, guys. So today, we're checking out the Rough Country Polished Dual Outlet Performance Axle-Back Exhaust System, fitting all 2007 to 2018 JK Wranglers whether you have the 3.8-liter or the 3.6-liter. Now if you're looking for an upgrade it to your axle-back and you're looking for something that's going to give you some small performance gains, it's going to give you an upgrade and looks and even sound, this option by Rough Country is going to be a great choice to take a look at.So this is going to have a number of different benefits and starting off with that performance aspect, since you are helping your engine breathe a little better with some less restriction and some better flow, this is going to give you some small horsepower and torque gains in those higher RPMs. Now I would like to mention that us Jeep owners don't spend a lot of time there so where you will feel that is a little increase in throttle response when you are in those higher RPM ranges like for example when you're getting on the highway. You may even see those in your fuel economy as well. Now where this is a big upgrade is with the sound, so I'm gonna give this a three out of five on the loudness meter with one being completely stock and five being incredibly loud. Now I'm putting it at a three just because this isn't going to increase a lot in volume as it is going to deepen the tone. So you are gonna get a throaty sound out of this axle-back system but it's not going to be incredibly overbearing which is a bonus to you guys who are daily driving your Wranglers. As far as interior noise goes, you're not really going to hear it a lot in there as well so you will get a little bit of drone, but it's again, not overbearing. You will be able to hear it when you do get on the throttle though which is a bonus for you guys that want to hear your exhaust system. And not to mention this is going to be a big upgrade in looks as well with the 409 polished stainless steel and that large 4-inch tip.As far as cost goes is gonna be roughly $300 putting this at a very affordable price for a dual outlet axle-back exhaust system. Now when we take a look at exhaust systems across the board, usually the more expensive options are going to have a higher quality material like 304 stainless steel instead of the 409 that we have here. Now this is going to be a little bit lower grade but it's still going to hold up very well especially if you take care of it and lasts a long time. Now those lesser expensive choices, those are usually going to be four options that are high tuck, perfect for the off-roader and not necessarily someone who wants something that is going to add a lot of style to the back end of their Wrangler and those are just gonna be for those over the axle pipes. And in my personal opinion, I think that this is going to be a great choice for someone who wants to keep it affordable but wants a high-quality construction, a high-quality build, and a deep sound out of their Wrangler at a pretty affordable price. So install is going to be a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, there is really not much to this install. You're gonna need a couple of basic hand tools and about an hour to two hours worth of your time. So speaking of that install, let's jump into that now. The tools that I use for my install are an impact wrench, a three-eighths inch deep socket, a 15-millimeter deep socket, an exhaust hanger removal tool, a bottle of PB B'laster, and a pry bar. So our first step is gonna be to loosen up our clamp on our axle-back piping in our over the axle pipe. So I'm gonna use a 15-millimeter deep socket and my impact wrench to do that. What we can do next is remove our exhaust hanger from the isolator here, I'm gonna use an exhaust hanger removal tool. You can use a pry bar but this is a little bit easier and you can find this at your local auto parts store. I would also recommend to hit it with a penetrating lubricant, I hit it with a little bit of PB B'laster to help this slide out of the isolator. Then we can go ahead, move that up and out of the way and then we can do the same thing for the other side. What we can do now is just wiggle our axle-back off of our over the axle-pipe.Before we hop into the install, I wanted to stop down and give you guys a little bit of a comparison between our factory exhaust system and this new Rough Country axle-back system and tell you guys what benefits are gonna come out of this new system. Right off the bat, you can tell that these are going to be completely different. This Rough Country axle-back is gonna be a big step up from the factory system. With your factory axle-back, you have a single outlet and you also have a big and bulky restrictive muffler there. With this new Rough Country axle-back, you're getting a very compact muffler, a very nice design with the dual outlet 4-inch tips and it's overall gonna have a quality construction. Now this compact muffler is going to be a lot less restrictive, helping you out with that sound and that aggressive tone that you're gonna get out of this instead of your factory muffler that is very baffled. This Rough Country option is going to be a big step up in construction as well as materials made of a complete 409 stainless steel. It is gonna be polished for that upgraded look and it's going to have quality welds and factory style hangers, which is definitely a plus for ease of installation. Our factory exhaust is going to be made of a lower quality steel even an aluminized steel, so moving over to a system like this is going to be a big upgrade. So enough about these two side by side, let's go mount up our new exhaust system. So first we can mount this up to our over-axle pipe and wiggle that in place. So once the axle-back is on enough to where it's sitting at that notch, what we can do is position our clamp. And we can snug up the clamp, we don't want to completely tighten it down just yet because we need to get our hangers in place. But I want to make sure that this is not gonna fall on us while we do that, so I'm using a three-eighths inch socket. I'm just gonna snug it up then we can position our hangers. And again, you might want to use a little bit of PB B'laster to help the hangers go into the isolator. So if you need to use a pry bar, it is a little bit helpful. And once the hangers are through the isolators, we can completely tighten up our clamp. Now at that three-eighths inch socket, making sure that the clamp is over the flange here, we can tighten that completely up. Once that's completely tightened, then we're all set to go. So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install. Make sure you like and subscribe. And for more videos and products like this, always keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
