    Video Review & Installation

Hey, guys. So, today we're checking out the RedRock 4x4 Matrix Safari Doors with the Mirrors, fitting all 1997 to 2006 TJ Wranglers. So, if you enjoy taking the full doors off of your Wrangler and enjoying an open-air driving experience, but you're also looking for some security and some peace of mind in the meantime, this option by RedRock 4x4 is gonna be a great choice to take a look into. Now, this door is gonna drop right into the hinges and again, give you a little bit of peace in mind while you're driving with those full doors off, whether you're on the trail or you're driving around on the street. Not to mention this is gonna open up a lot of visibility, while also enjoying that open-air driving experience, which is especially useful while you're out on the trail and you're rock crawling and trying to take a look at the trail when it comes to your line and it comes to clearance on this breakover angle here. Now, these are gonna be made of durable steel tube and plate construction, making sure that they're gonna hold up for a long time. These are also going to have a nice textured black powder coat finish on top to match with any other textured black accessories that you may already have on your Wrangler and of course protect that steel underneath for many roster corrosion. Now, what I do like about these doors, in particular, is the fact that this is gonna have a nylon netting in the middle. Again, that is going to provide some sense of security while you're driving around. But this is also gonna protect you and your passengers from any brush or branches while you're driving around on the trail. Now, this is going to be removable as well. So, if it does get dirty, you wanna take it off, clean it, throw it back on, that makes it incredibly easy. This is gonna be attached by heavy-duty Velcro all around. So, again, it is going to be incredibly easy to put it on and take it off really whenever you'd like, kind of giving you the option if you want to run this net in the middle or not. Now, the other thing that I do really like about this choice is the fact that this is going to come up with mirrors included in the kit and all the hardware that you need to install them. That kind of makes it a one-stop-shop, and you really don't have to worry about your mirrors on your factory doors whenever you're throwing these doors on to your Jeep. Now, that being said, these are gonna come in at roughly $500. And in my personal opinion with being such an inclusive kit, and having some functionality there in the meantime, I think that that is well worth that price point. Now, some other options available on the page may be set up a little bit differently. They may not include this netting here and they may have more of a plate construction or a tubular construction in the center of the door. I like the fact that you can take this off and put it on whenever you'd like, kind of giving you that option to customize the door to your personal preference. And some other choices may not come with mirrors or they may come with brackets instead of the full mirror itself. I really like the fact that these comes with mirrors, it kind of makes it a one-stop-shop, and the mirrors are going to have some modernized styling to them. They are gonna be pretty large mirrors, so not only are they functional, but they're gonna add a lot of styling to the side of the door here and overall creates a full package. Again, I think that this is gonna be a great addition to the TJ if you are searching for a tube door for some peace of mind, security, open-air driving experience, and want a one-stop-shop.Now, when it comes to install, I'm gonna give this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. This probably is gonna take you about 30 minutes to get the job done with some very basic hand tools. So, speaking of the install, just jump into that now.The tools that I used for this install were a ratchet, a 10-millimeter wrench, and a 4-millimeter Allen socket, and you will also need a 13-millimeter socket. So, our first step is gonna be taking our doors off. Now the first step to taking the doors off is to remove the hardware on the bottom of the hinges here. Now, ours are off since we take our doors off frequently. However, for that, you're gonna need a 13-millimeter socket. And then our next step is to open up the door and take off our limiting strap. So right in the inside of the bottom of our door here we're gonna have our limiting strap. Sometimes it's a little bit easier to pull the door in just to give a little slack, we can slide that off. And at this point our door is fully disconnected, all we have to do is lift it up out of the hinges and safely put it to the side. All right, at this point, we can lift up on our door, you may have to wiggle it out of place. Sometimes these can get pretty corroded. So, making sure that you have the correct side, what we can do is kind of repeat that process backwards with our factory door by sliding this one into the hinges. The hinges are gonna be welded on so you don't have to worry about bolting them on. So, I did put a little bit of anti-seize in there just to help it go in a little bit easier. And all we have to do is kind of give it a little bit of pressure if it's not going in and wiggle it back and forth. And once it's pretty much flush and the threads on the bottom are exposed, then we can actually close up our door, making sure that the latch aligns, which it does, and then we can bolt up those hinges. So, once a door is now sitting down in the hinges and the thread is exposed you can reuse those factory 13-millimeter nuts and secure the door down. Again, we are not using those. So, at this point, what I'm gonna do is install our mirror. So, making sure that you have the correct side what we're gonna do is take our provided gasket and put that on the inside of our mirror down at the base. This is gonna just kind of push into place around those mounting locations. Now, once that's in place, what we can do is line this up with our door. There's gonna be four points where we're gonna mount it and I am going to start with just securing down one of them and then we can move to the other three. You're gonna need the provided Allen head bolts, two flat washers, a lock washer, and the provided nut. We can secure that down. The mirror is gonna wanna move on you but once you get the second bolt in it should be pretty level. Now, once those are all secure and tightened down by hand, what we can do is take a 4-millimeter Allen socket or Allen key and a 10-millimeter wrench and just snug those up.So, now that the mirror is on, our last few steps are gonna include putting on our limiting strap which is going to be pretty much the same as the factory one. This is just gonna be a little nylon strap on the inside that's gonna hook onto this post. Now, once that is on, what we can do next is adjust our latch. Now, you may get lucky like we did and it may close and open perfectly on the first try. However, if you need to adjust it, you can adjust it vertically as well as horizontally, but you can use that 4-millimeter Allen socket or Allen key to loosen up the latch and move it around, just to make sure that it's hitting the striker correctly and opening and closing with ease. But at this point, once you are complete with the install on this side, you can repeat the same exact process on the other side. So, that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install, make sure you like and subscribe for more videos and products just like this.
