I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the RedRock 4x4 Trail 13 inch Short Antenna fitting all 1997 to 2016 TJs. This part is a little bit form and a little bit function. A lot of people like the way that these 13-inch antennas over the much taller factory metal antenna. And this is designed to bend and spring back straight again if you get it hooked on a tree branch on the trail. Where the factory metal antenna will bend and stay bent until you manually bend it straight again. Now with any short antenna, you are going to lose a little bit of radio reception. So if you already have weak reception and you listen to the radio a lot, this might not be the best model for you. This antenna is priced right around the same area as a lot of other short antennas and in my mind, I can't see a reason to spend more on one of those more expensive options. This is designed to replace your factory antenna, which is a full 31 inches tall, with this much more compact 13-inch tall antenna. This is covered with a rubber weatherproof coating and, as we said before, it's designed to bend and snap back straight again unlike some other short antennas that are on the market. One thing that will save you a little bit of money with this short antenna is that it includes just the antenna that screws directly into your factory base. Some other short antennas will include a different base which ups the price a little bit, but in my mind, there's no reason to swap out the base. You're not going to get any better reception. It may just look a little bit different. As we said before, this will install in the Jeep very, very easily. All you need to do is unscrew your factory antenna and screw the new on into place. If the factory antenna is a little bit too tight to unscrew by hand, You may need a small adjustable wrench or the proper size open-end wrench, but that's the only tool you're going to need. If this took you 15 minutes to install, it took you a long time. Like we said before, this antenna is priced similarly to other antennas on the market of the same design. There are some more expensive all metal or aluminum antennas, but those ones will bend and stay bent and not spring back like this one will. And there are some short antennas that include a base but, again, it's not really necessary. Although, it will change up the look a little bit more. Even though all short antennas will decrease your radio reception a little bit, if you like the look, I think this is a very fairly priced short antenna option. So if you're looking to replace your factory, much taller metal antenna with one of these short antennas that not only looks better but will also spring back into shape if you do get it hooked on a trail obstacle, this is a really fairly priced high-quality option. So that's my review of the RedRock 4x4 Trail 13 inch Short Antenna fitting all 1997 to 2016 TJs that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.
