      Video Review & Installation

Jake: Jake here for ExtremeTerrain, and today I'm taking a look at the RedRock Door Hinges in Black, fitting 2007-2018 4-door JK Wranglers. Whether you're looking to replace some tired outdoor hinges or just get some more black accents on your four-door JK, these hinges from Redrock make for an affordable, easy option that's gonna refresh both the look and the operation of your doors. While door hinges perhaps aren't the most exciting modification to make, they can still have a big impact on both the visuals and everyday operation of your Jeep.Designed to mimic your factory hinges, these black ones from Redrock are an excellent upgrade if your originals are looking or feeling maybe a bit tired. Featuring a gloss black powder coat finish, these are sure to make a statement on brighter paint colors and add to that blackout look if you're going that direction. Plus, of course, since these are new, you get all new hardware included in the kit, you've got brand new pins, and you've got a nice striker plate on the back here that's already covered and ready to go for you. So, these are gonna help your doors feel and function just like they did when they were new. Now, these are only the door side of the hinges, though, so keep that in mind. If you want a fully refreshed setup, you're gonna need to get the matching body-side hinges as well, and we do have those available on our site, also in black to match these. Now, again, these are designed to mimic your factory original hinges, making them nearly indistinguishable from those OEM ones.Construction here is all industrial-grade steel, again, much like your factory hinges. And again, you've got that glossy black finish over top, it's gonna help keep that steel protected against the elements, so these should last you a long time too.Pricing is, perhaps, the biggest win though, as these are gonna only run you about $100. And that is about the least expensive set for hinges out there. It's also about the same price as a single OEM hinge. So, you're gonna get a lot for your money here, since, again, you've got eight enough to do all four doors. And if new hinges are on your list, you'd be well served to snatch up a set of these.Installation is gonna get a one out of three on our difficulty meter, and the job should take you maybe about an hour. Now, these are again, gonna bolt right in place of your factory units. Of course, you're gonna have to remove your doors to get this done properly, but once you do that, it's really just two bolts each. And again, you've got all-new hardware included in the kit as well, making it pretty easy to get this done. And to show you exactly what's entailed, let's go ahead and throw it over to one of our XT customers.Man: For this installation, you're gonna need a 3/8 drive ratchet, a T50 torque socket, and a 5-millimeter Allen socket. Once you have those tools, you can get straight into the installation. So, you wanna get your torque socket and go down here on the bottom and loosen up this lock nut. There'll be one on each hinge, so you wanna repeat the process on every single hinge. So, on each door, you wanna get this keeper strap and just slip it off. And then you have your wiring harness down here. You wanna press that red part till it's all the way out. Then on the bottom, it's got this little clip. You just push in and slide that out. And then you just lift the door off and set it down somewhere safe so you won't scratch the bottom of it or anything. Now in the rear, you wanna do the same thing, except you just pull this back tab off and then push that in, push that bottom part. And the keeper strap is a little harder to get to, but it's just the same thing. Then you pull this out, lift the door right off like the others. Now you wanna get your T50 torque socket and put it in these screws. And make sure you get a good bite so it doesn't slip off and damage any of your paint. You just screw them out. Some of them will be harder than others to get out, but you'll eventually get it. Just screw that out, set that somewhere. And repeat the process on the other bolt. It'll come out just the same. The hinge might be a little hard to get off, but it should just lift right off. And then you wanna repeat the process on each door and every hinge. This isn't recommended, but I'm just gonna go ahead and clean the surface and get your new hinge. You wanna try and line it up right where the old one sat. Just put it in there. And then these are 5-millimeter Allen bolts. You wanna tighten them. You don't wanna tighten them too much or not enough. So just get 'em snug and make sure you do both of them evenly. And you wanna repeat the process on every door. Then you wanna get the door with the new hinges on. Make sure both of the hinges are lined up. Takes a little time. Set it down in there. Get your wiring harness and the safety thing. Hook that back up. And then get in here. Hook that back in. Just get this. Get the front door with the new hinges. Same thing. Gotta just align 'em up right. Drop it in there. Just hook that on.Come back in here. Snap the wiring harness back in place. And just press the little red safety. Then you wanna get this bottom keeper. Just screw it in there. And get your 3/8 drive ratchet with a T50 Torx socket. Keep doing that until it gets fairly tight. And then just repeat the process to all hinges.Jake: That's gonna wrap it up here for our review and install of the RedRock Door Hinges in Black, fitting 2007-2018 4-door JKs. Thanks so much for watching. And remember, for all things Wrangler, be sure to keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
