Hey guys. So today I'm here with the RedRock 4x4 three-inch Bull Bar with the skid plate, fitting all 2018 and up JL Wranglers. So this is gonna be for the JL owner looking for some heavy duty front end protection with a couple of added benefits, but they don't necessarily want the hassle or the cost of upgrading their front bumper. So this is gonna be a great addition to your factory front bumper, first of all offering you that protection. This is made of heavy duty steel with a textured black powder coat finish, so it's gonna resist any rust or corrosion on the steel underneath, but what it's also going to do is assist you in an aggressive and off-road look to the front of your JL. Now this is also gonna have a couple of those other benefits that I mentioned. You are getting a skid plate underneath for any lower obstacles, and you are getting two light mounting tabs up top, so if you want to add any additional lighting down the road, you also have that option. Now this is gonna be roughly $275 on the page, and when we're looking at bull bars across the board, as well as front end protection really, that's gonna be a pretty average price point. Now there are gonna be less expensive options that are similarly designed to this. However, they're not going to have these light mounting tabs up top. Now other more expensive options on the page are really just gonna come down to the different finishes as well as what goes along with the bull bar. They may have a polished stainless steel finish or they may have that light bar integrated into the bull bar. Now if you're looking to keep it simple but you're also looking to keep it on a budget, this is gonna be a great option to take a look at. Install is gonna be a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. You're gonna need a couple of hand tools to get the job done. So speaking of the install, let's jump into that now.The tools that I used for this install were an impact wrench, trim removal tools, a 3/8-inch drive ratchet, a 16-millimeter deep socket, 16-millimeter shallow socket, 13-millimeter shallow socket, and an 8-millimeter deep socket. So the first step of our install is to take off our lower splash guard. Now, you're gonna need a trim removal tool as well as an 8-millimeter socket, and we can head underneath the Jeep. So in this little indent here, we're gonna have a bolt that's going to secure the rear of our splash guard. So we're going to remove that with an 8-millimeter socket. Now we can do the same thing on the other side. So now we're going to take our trim removal tool and remove the push pins that are holding on the front of our splash guard. After all the clips are removed we can fully remove our splash guard. So now we can remove our bottom skid plate. I'm gonna be using a 16-millimeter socket in order to remove these two bolts. After those two bolts are removed, we can slide up and pull this out. So in order to attach our bracket, we do need to attach our welded nut plate on the back of our frame here. So we're just going to pass this through and wind that up. Now, on some models, you will have a threaded hole here, so you won't need the welded nut plate. You can just use two bolts, but we will. So now that this is in the correct position, we can take our retainer and thread that on to make sure it stays in place, so when we mount up our bracket we can bolt it in correctly. So now we can attach our driver side bracket. It will be labeled with a D or a P for driver side or passenger side, and then we can attach our bracket. So I'm gonna be using a flat washer, a lock washer, and a nut for this welded bolt. Then we're gonna need to line up the other side, grab our provided hardware. It's gonna be your bolt, flat washer, and lock washer. Go ahead and bolt that through. But once it's lined up, you'll be able to thread your bolt in and then we can repeat that same process on the other side. Now we're not gonna tighten these down just yet. We're gonna attach our bull bar and then we can go ahead and make sure that everything's even and then tighten everything down. So now with the help of somebody holding it up, you are able to do this yourself, however, it is pretty difficult to see, we're gonna bolt in our bull bar to our supporting bracket. So it's gonna be two bolts on either side. We're just gonna snug those up for the time being, then do the same thing on the other side. So now while you're holding the bull bar up in place, we're gonna tighten down our bracket so I'm using a 16-millimeter deep socket. So now we can tighten down our bull bar to our bracket using a 13-millimeter socket. Now repeat that process on the other side. So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install. This was not my first choice, but since the one I wanted is back ordered for eternity, I opted for this one and I’m very pleased with it. It had all the right parts included (a pleasant change), it was packed well and all went together fast and with a good fit. This item feels solid and not like a cheap piece if steel. I do recommend watching the video a few times in advance since that really helped. There are lots of places to mount future lighting accessories and these are well placed. I have not yet installed the skid plate back in place but that’s next. The shipping was great and I had it in 3 days. Highly recommended for a budget bull bar.Helpful (1)

RedRock, Awesome bull bar
The RedRock black textured bull bar is a well made, easy to install product. I installed it in about an hour and a half including replacing the splash guard ( you simply cut holes for the bull bar supports to pass through) and the factory skid plate can be placed back in place as well. Looks great on my 2018 JLU Sting Grey,Helpful (4)
What is the weight of this bull bar? Thanks
The RedRock 4x4 3 in. Bull Bar w/ Skid Plate will weigh approximately 33 lbs.
Can a winch be installed on this bar?
This would not accommodate a winch.
Can you reinstall the skid plate and splash guard?
