I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a polished SS grille cover. Will the inserts fit inside the grille cover? I tried the snap in type and they do not fit as the grille cover makes the opening slightly smaller.

    • The RedRock 4x4 Black Billet Grille Inserts can install with some grille covers as long as the grille cover does not go too far into the grille openings.

      poor design

Just like all the other reviews... don't buy these if you want to just install without any modifications on the brackets... you have to bend each one to a 45 degree angle to make them hold the inserts in your grill. Easy to do, but takes more time.

      Looks Great, difficult install

I really liked the quality of these inserts, but without the ability to bend the tabs to the propper position I had to return them.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Black Billet Grille Inserts (97-06 Wrangler TJ)

The Lesson: don't buy poorly designed stuff

So, I would not recommend these grille inserts. They are very difficult to install due to the problem with the attachment system (you have to bend them and one broke during the process), the overall poor design which makes installation difficult, and the lack of quality attachment parts (grills ok, attachment parts not ok) I purchased better hardware (screws with locking nuts, but the attachment system was not designed well, so you get what you pay for. Do not buy this product. I returned mine.

      They Look Good

These are not easy to install by any stretch of the imagination. I had to modify the "tabs" that "hold" them in and add rubber squares.

      Looks great, but...

I read other reviews about the poor fit before purchasing these inserts. Those reviews were correct, the fit was very lose and wobbly but after some hardwear modifications (using a vice and hammer to alter the hardwear) they fit great and look awesome! Only took a few extra minutes to change the fit and it was worth it. Love the new grille look!

Review from RedRock 4x4 Black Billet Grille Inserts (97-06 Wrangler TJ)

      Hardware is not correct

I had read some reviews from other sites and was prepared for the installation issues. All the clips that you use to fasten the grill are bent at the wrong angle. The angle should match the angle on the grill inserts, but don't. I put all the clips in a vise and bent them to the correct angle, kind of a pain, but not really a time consuming problem. Once the clips were the correct angle, everything went together pretty smooth and they look great. Good luck

      Billet Inserts

I tried to save some money and go this route, but the fit is terrible and about half of them move around. For the look, they are great, but now I will have to save up my money to buy the black ones that are like the stock inserts. I was disappointed in this product.

      let down

The hardware included was garbage. There was so much play in the nuts when threaded that they didn't even seem to be the same thread as the bolts. I ended up using my own with similar diameter and still was having trouble getting the inserts to fit snug with in the grill. I've attempted to install them a couple times now with different hardware and am really just so frustrated with them I'm in between modifying them to accually fit or giving up and returning them.

      Not a fan!

I will most likely be returning this product. Don't get me wrong it looks good and appears to be well constructed but hardware and product application is junk! I contacted customer service and spoke to a nice gentleman and he appeared to be well aware of the issues. He said he would send me out new hardware. I was expecting something new and improved but it was the same junk hardware.

I read a lot of the reviews so I was prepared with the locking nuts. It is a little difficult to get to the nuts but not too bad. They look great.

      Easy

Some of the clips needed some love with a hammer to hold the inserts a little tighter. Initially a little loose. Looks good tho. Been receiving alot of compliments on them.

      Billet Grille Inserts returned

I received the Billet Grille Inserts and the hardware included was cheap and not fit for purpose. The inserts marginally fit the grill and were very loose. The instructs were of poor quality and pictures were awful. I returned the product.

      LOOK GOOD-HAD ISSUES

FIRST OF ALL THESE DO LOOK REALLY GOOD. HOWEVER YOU WILL HAVE TO BEND THE TABS TO MAKE THEM FASTEN TIGHTLY. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT ON MY 97 TJ YOU CANNOT INSTALL THE MIDDLE VENT. THE HOOD LATCH IS DIFFERENT ON MY MODEL SO IF THE GRILL IS INSTALLED YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO POP THE HOOD. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF DRILLING A HOLE IN THE LEVER AND RUNNING A CABLE.
