I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a polished SS grille cover. Will the inserts fit inside the grille cover? I tried the snap in type and they do not fit as the grille cover makes the opening slightly smaller.

  • The RedRock 4x4 Black Billet Grille Inserts can install with some grille covers as long as the grille cover does not go too far into the grille openings.

    They dont fit

As the title says. I returned them. Very difficult to make them fit snug. They also limit access to the hood release latch.

    Nice blackout look

Gave me the blackout look I was looking for. Directions could be a little better.(better pictures).. Like others,I had to bend the brackets to make work and two of the nuts were no good, one trip to hardware store to replace..

    Grill inserts

The hardware is not up to par, had several screws i couldnt use. The fit is tricky had to bend one to get the screw to drop in. In this case you get what you pay for. They say to use locktight and of course dont provide any.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Black Billet Grille Inserts (97-06 Wrangler TJ)

    Decent Product

The end result is nice. Installation took longer because the tab on each slot did not come in contact with the grille the way it should when tightening. The gap between the tab and the grille was too wide. I had to bend each tab to close the gap. Was hoping this was a straight out the box install, but it took a little extra work and thought to install. The quality is not as high as I was expecting. I'm glad I bought it when it was on sale, otherwise I probably would have returned it. Fix those two things and it would be a five star product.

    Looks great but one problem

I have it installed...but there is a problem. I had to bend all the metal clips to make it fit properly. One snapped. The company was gracious enough to send me two extra so that I can finish the job shortly. However, if you purchase this, I would advice you to request one or two extra clips in case they snap. Also, to avoid snapping them, rap on them gently to bend them. I help one end with a heavy pliers, and pressed the other end of the clip against the floor and then hit it till it bent adequately. Otherwise, I'm happy with the product.

    Quick and easy upgrade.

The longest part of the installation was putting thread lock on the bolts. Only problem I had was one of the nuts was stripped, but its a 5 cent fix. Looks great.

    Looks great

Like the way it looks...fills in holes of the blah grill. Was a little tricky to install hey my standards. Hardware could be different to insure nothing would vibrate loose. Overall, a good buy

Review from RedRock 4x4 Black Billet Grille Inserts (97-06 Wrangler TJ)

    Nice Look

The grille inserts look cool installed but took some effort with the mounting hardware to get the best fit. On my pieces I had to sand off the residual black powder coat on the back side to get better fit with the brackets. If not, mine would not tighten up against the backside of the grille. I opted for new allen head bolts because I had a couple of the ones included strip out when tightening. So, I had to adjust o few things but not hard items to do. Great look.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Black Billet Grille Inserts (97-06 Wrangler TJ)

    let down

The hardware included was garbage. There was so much play in the nuts when threaded that they didn't even seem to be the same thread as the bolts. I ended up using my own with similar diameter and still was having trouble getting the inserts to fit snug with in the grill. I've attempted to install them a couple times now with different hardware and am really just so frustrated with them I'm in between modifying them to accually fit or giving up and returning them.

    Easy

Some of the clips needed some love with a hammer to hold the inserts a little tighter. Initially a little loose. Looks good tho. Been receiving alot of compliments on them.

    Billet Grille Inserts returned

I received the Billet Grille Inserts and the hardware included was cheap and not fit for purpose. The inserts marginally fit the grill and were very loose. The instructs were of poor quality and pictures were awful. I returned the product.

    LOOK GOOD-HAD ISSUES

FIRST OF ALL THESE DO LOOK REALLY GOOD. HOWEVER YOU WILL HAVE TO BEND THE TABS TO MAKE THEM FASTEN TIGHTLY. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT ON MY 97 TJ YOU CANNOT INSTALL THE MIDDLE VENT. THE HOOD LATCH IS DIFFERENT ON MY MODEL SO IF THE GRILL IS INSTALLED YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO POP THE HOOD. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF DRILLING A HOLE IN THE LEVER AND RUNNING A CABLE.

    Great item ...

I read all the complaints about this item... Easy fix... Vending the brackets use 2 Crescent adjustable wrench and use electrical tape on the tips . Slide them on the small brackets you can bend them as much as you need . Also the nuts that come with the package and didn't use I bought the nut with the plastic insert and the end . Work perfect.

    Not a fan!

I will most likely be returning this product. Don't get me wrong it looks good and appears to be well constructed but hardware and product application is junk! I contacted customer service and spoke to a nice gentleman and he appeared to be well aware of the issues. He said he would send me out new hardware. I was expecting something new and improved but it was the same junk hardware.

    Look great.

I read a lot of the reviews so I was prepared with the locking nuts. It is a little difficult to get to the nuts but not too bad. They look great.
