    Review & Installation Video

I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the Raxiom Backup Camera Spare Tire Mount Bracket, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This bracket is for any of you who have the Raxiom navigation system with backup camera or the Raxiom backup camera kit and are looking for a clean and easy way to install that camera without the need to drill anything. Or if you have any other 3/4 inch backup camera and you're just looking for the cleanest, easiest way to install it without the need to drill anything. And something that gives you a really good viewing angle. So, if you're looking for that type of installation and you have the budget for it, I highly recommend taking a look at this bracket. This bracket is made of steel and it's covered in a black powder-coat finish that's going to do a great job of resisting both rust and corrosion. There honestly isn't too much to this bracket, but it does solve a problem. Anytime you're installing a backup camera, the standard way to do that is to drill a hole, and there are a lot of different places to mount the camera but they all require drilling. If you would rather have a really clean install without the need to drill, this is a nice option. It mounts your camera behind the spare tire and does it without the need to drill a hole, giving you a great vantage point. A couple of the other options for mounting your camera would be to drill a hole in the bumper or in a plastic hitch plug. The problem with those locations is if you put it in the hitch plug, every time you use the hitch you have to remove the plug, thereby removing your camera, or if you put it in the bumper you have a really low vantage point. This gives you a nice, high vantage point which gives you the perfect viewing angle for a backup camera and again, it does it all without the need to drill. As long as you have a factory style spare tire mount, with two studs at the top and one at the bottom, this will work perfectly. Installing the bracket could not be any easier. All you need to do is remove your spare tire, put your bracket on your spare tire mount, again this goes over the top two studs of your factory style spare tire mount. Install your camera, route your wiring, and put your tire back on. The whole process shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to install the bracket, but that doesn't count installing the camera and routing all the wiring. And you won't need any specialty tools, just something to remove your lug nuts to get your spare tire off. Right off the bat, when you take a look at the price for this bracket, it might seem to be a little bit high. And when you pick the bracket up and hold it in your hands, it's not overbuilt. Then again, it doesn't need to be. All it's doing is holding your camera. So, when you take a look at the price tag, initially it might seem a little bit high. But when you consider the alternative to this, which is drilling a hole in your Jeep to match the camera, and the fact that there aren't a lot of other options for brackets out there like this at any price point, all of a sudden, in my opinion, it becomes worth the money. So, whether you're installing the Raxiom navigation system with backup camera, the Raxiom backup camera system, or any other 3/4 inch backup camera and you're looking for a solution to mount that camera without the need to drill into your Jeep, and something that will give you the best possible vantage point, this is a really nice option if you have the budget for it. So that's my review of the Raxiom Backup Camera Spare Tire Mount Bracket fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Clear Visibility. Designed to provide a central camera mounting point without the hassle of drilling, the Raxiom Spare Tire Backup Camera Mount Bracket will give you the perfect angle of visibility when backing up.  This mount is made to work with Raxiom's bullet camera included in the Raxiom Navigation Unit kit (sold separately), and centers your camera within your JK's spare tire for a wide central view when in reverse.

Durable Construction. This mount bracket is crafted from precision cut steel for durability. To protect against corrosion and the elements it is finished off in black powder coat and will blend in seamlessly with your factory spare tire mount. This bracket installs in moments without modification to your Wrangler and is designed for use with the factory spare tire mount and factory wheels. This mount features Raxiom's 2-Year Full Warranty.

Application. The Raxiom Spare Tire Backup Camera Mount Bracket is designed for use on 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK models equipped with a factory spare tire set up.

      Rusty But Trusty

Here in Michigan it got rusty after two years. NBD to me, but some might be dissapointed. Knowing what I know I expected it to rust. The part isn't tumbled so the edges are straight and powder coat and e-coat can't bend on a laser cut edge. It would easily raise the price a few dollars which I would gladly pay but most wouldn't.

Does what it is supposed to

It is a great little bracket for mounting an aftermarket backup camera. It just feels overpriced for a simple piece of sheet steel.

      Great Quality and Easy Install

I ordered this, as well as a "bullet" camera to connect to my pioneer radio. The bracket is high quality with a smooth paint or powder-coat finish. The installation was easy enough and once the tire is on you can still make adjustments to the angle before tightening everything down. It even comes with instructions on how to route your wires through the tailgate. Very impressed with this product so far.

      Spare tire nightmare!

This is a cool camera mount. I found it almost impossible to mount the way the directions said. The 37 in tire and wheel on my 2017 weighs....I dunno.....felt like 300 Lbs. Getting said spare back on studs with that camera mount was less than possible. I finally took my angle grinder, cut the bottom off it and mounted it on the outside of the tire behind the modified center brake light mount. Looks great and saved me a hernia and a divorce. This mount is flexible as an old baseball glove and bent several times while trying to install per specs. The black wheel and tire hide the black mount just fine and should make the camera mount easy. The metal seems a little flimsy for almost 60 bucks but it should work fine once the camera is installed.

      Much improved view!

I've had my Raxiom backup camera for a while now, I originally had it mounted in the stock rear bumper but recently went to a steel bumper. Having the bracket on the spare mount gives you a much better perspective and opens up the view range of the camera considerably. I wish I had bought this months ago!

Easy way to mount your back-up camera

Used this bracket to install a back-up camera on my JKU. It works great and holds an off the shelf IR camera without any modifications. Strongly suggest you do not fully mount the camera until you verify that it is mounted correctly as removing it after the fact will be difficult.

      Nice simple, effective design

There are very few backup camera mounts available for the JK Wrangler. This is among the least expensive and easiest solutions available. The opening for the camera is about ¾”, which seems to be the standard size for most round backup cameras. The mount can shift around when the spare tire is removed, so it’s important to keep in mind of the position when you remove the spare tire. The height and angle of the camera seem to work well and you can easily bend the bracket to position the camera where you want it. Overall, this is a simple to install bracket that works very well.

Works well, but overpriced for what it is!

Bracket works as advertised, although buying some retaining clips is a good idea, since nothing secures it in place when the spare tire is off. For what it is, it should cost half as much. But seems as they are the only ones that sell this bh itself.

      Great

The quality product was great was able to use with the backup camera from my after market radio. I gave four starts only because i wish there was a better way to secure the bracket down before the spare on i feel if i ever have to take my spare off the camera bracket slides and would have to be re adjusted still happy that i didnt have to buy a different camer but its a solid bracket and perfect angles.

      Eh

It is built out of really cheap material and from what others have said it will rust soon after install. I painted mine before installing. For $50 I think it is way over priced. For $25 I would give it 5 stars.
