I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com, and this is my review of the Rugged Ridge Quick Release Mirror Kit, fitting all 1997 to 2016 Wranglers. This kit is available in both the rectangular mirrors that you see here and round mirrors, and it's also available in two different finishes, either gloss black or textured. You can also purchase these mirrors individually or as a pair. This mirror kit is for those of you who want to take the doors off of your Jeep but also want to remain both legal and safe by retaining your rear-view mirrors. Now, there are kits out there that will permanently move your factory mirrors from your doors to your A pillars and I really like those kits because they save you the additional step every time you take the doors off of installing or removing your quick release mirror. However, if you're somebody who has a newer JK that has either the power mirrors or heated mirrors, you'll lose that functionality by moving the mirror to the A pillar, so if you're somebody in that situation, I definitely recommend these.I especially like these mirrors over some of the other quick release mirror kits on the market because these are really solidly built. Some of the issues that you can have with a mirror like this, especially at highway speed, is a vibration that makes it really hard to see behind you. These mirrors are nice and solid, so that won't be an issue for you.On the back of each of these mirrors is a ball joint that is fully adjustable, so you can tighten it down, and that's going to keep the mirrors from moving when you hit highway speed. The way that the arm is designed and the way it attaches to the quick release bracket means it's going to attach really tightly and, again, it's not going to vibrate, especially at highway speed. Because the arms and the mirrors themselves are fully adjustable, you're going to be able to see the mirror in any situation. One of the drawbacks to moving the factory mirror to the A pillar is it can make the passenger mirror a little bit difficult to see. You won't have that issue with this kit. This kit is designed to be completely bolt-on and installs really easily. In fact, it uses a lot of the factory hardware which makes it even easier. The first step in the installation is to install the bracket that will stay on the Jeep. In order to do that, you have to remove two bolts from the factory windshield hinge. Now, we found that ours had some Locktite on them, so it might be helpful to run a die and tap through the bolt and bolt hole to make sure they're nice and clean before you reinstall those bolts. That will decrease the likelihood of you cross-threading one of those bolts.Once you have the bracket installed on the Jeep, you install the mirror onto the mirror arm, and then put the mirror arm in the quick release bracket. The whole installation shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes and the only tool you'll need is a socket to attach the mirror to the mirror arm and a Torx bit to remove those factory bolts. I think this kit is worth every dollar that you have to pay for it because of how solidly it's built. You can get two of these mirrors for right around $50 and in my opinion they're worth that. I would much rather have a mirror mover kit that permanently moves my factory mirror from my door to my A pillar, again, just so you don't have that extra step every time you take your doors on and off. However, I'm a TJ guy, so I don't have to worry about power mirrors. If I had a JK that had power mirrors that were heated, I definitely wouldn't want to lose that functionality and I would be installing a set of these on my Jeep.So if you're somebody who likes to take the doors off your Jeep for that open air driving experience, but you want to remain legal and safe, and you don't mind the extra step of taking the mirrors on and off every time you take the doors on and off, I think this is a well-built and fairly priced kit.So, that's my review of the Rugged Ridge Quick Release Mirror Kit, fitting all 1997 to 2016 Wranglers that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Key Features. It's nice to ride around in your Jeep without the doors, letting the wind flow through and being able to get in and out without any hassle. The one problem is you need a spot to put your side mirrors, and that's exactly what this Rugged Ridge Quick Release Mirror Relocation Kit is all about. A genius design uses a custom bracket and anchor points already existing in the windshield frame, so you don't have to do any extensive modifications to make this setup work. Long arms ensure you can see well on both sides of your rig, so you're not running into things on a trail or the road. Filler plates that can be painted are also included in the kit.
Construction. The stainless steel construction for the mirror assembly looks great, resists any kind of corrosion and is durable enough to handle the rigors of serious trail runs. Thanks to the quick adjustable knob, you can take off and put the mirrors back on in a hurry, and the system is simple to use. Each mirror mounts to a stainless steel bracket, which attaches via included hardware. A polished finish is present for all of the stainless steel, giving it a classic look.
Installation. You'll need a socket wrench and Torx screwdriver/wrench to successfully install the Rugged Ridge Quick Release Mirror Relocation kit. Step by step instructions with pictures are available, which is a big help with understanding the process better. Plan on the job taking between one or two hours, maybe more, depending on your mechanical aptitude. You'll need to install the mounting bracket on the windshield, then anchor the relocation hardware to it and make adjustments. It's a straightforward job, but you should take your time to ensure everything is bolted down tightly.
Application. Rugged Ridge designed this stainless steel Quick Release Mirror Relocation Kit to be used on all 1997-2018 Jeep Wrangler TJ & JK models.
