Note: In my case the bolts that the spare tire rests on were not long enough when the racks plate was added on. I suggest 2-1/2” bolts if yours are short. You will need a grinder to break the welds.
Installation Instructions:
1. Take the top portion of the rack and put the carriage bolts through the holes, turn the rack upside down so the heads of the bolts are touching the ground. Place a washer on each bolt, then put the provided black tubes over the bolts, next put the bottom of the rack on the bolts, add another washer then place and hand tighten the given nuts on the carriage bolts.
2. The company suggests using a silicone sealer; I used bed liner. Before you use a 9/16 socket apply the silicone sealer in the gap between the rack and the carriage bolts. Tighten the nut, this will draw the carriage bolt into the rack, wipe the excess sealer. If you use bed liner tighten the nuts, then apply 3-4 coats of the liner waiting for the previous coat to dry before the next coat is applied. Be sure that you completely seal the crevice between the rack and bolt, you don’t want rust!
3. Next place the mounting plate on you spare tire carrier, put the rod in the mounting plate and fasten in with 2 set screws and the release pin. Finally slide the rack onto the pole and fasten it with the remaining set screws and release pins
