How to Install Olympic 4x4 Rear Rock Bumper - Textured Black (07-17 Wrangler JK) on your Jeep Wrangler

Installation Time

1 hours

Tools Required
  • 3/8” drive ratchet and 3” extension
  • 5/8”, 3/4” and 15/16” socket
  • 5/8”, 3/4" and 15/16” combination wrenches

Installation Instructions:

1. Unpack and remove the new bumper from the shipping box and verify all parts and hardware are included.

2. Using a 5/8” socket and ratchet or 5/8” combination wrench remove the (8) 5/8” hex bolts that hold the bumper to the brackets and brackets to the frame rail and (4) 5/8” hex bolts that hold the bumper to the frame cross brace.

3. Using a 3/4” socket and ratchet or 3/4” combination wrench remove the (3) 3/4” hex head bolts holding the factory tow hook to the driver’s side frame rail and remove the retaining nut plate from inside the frame rail which will allow installation of the Olympic 4x4 bumper bracket inside the frame rail in step 4.

NOTE: The factory tow hook will not be reused since the Olympic 4x4 bumper bracket will interfere with the installation of the factory tow hook retaining nut plate inside the frame rail.

4. Install a Olympic 4x4 bumper bracket inside each frame rail aligning the welded nuts on the brackets with the grooves in the frame rail, then loosely install the 15/16” and 3/4” hex head bolts, flat washers and lock washers into the bracket nuts on each frame rail which will allow for alignment of the holes in the welded plates inside the bumper to the bracket welded nuts during the bolt installation in step 5.

5. Place bumper onto the brackets installed inside the frame rails, loosely install the (4) 5/8” hex head bolts thru the holes in the bumper welded plate and into the bracket weld nuts which will hold the bumper in place to allow for adjustment in step 6.

6. Adjust the bumper alignment for the desired clearances and appearance. Tighten the (2) 3/4” and 15/16” hex head bolts that hold the brackets inside the frame rails and then tighten the (4) 5/8” hex head bolts that hold the bumper brackets to the frame rail brackets.
