    Video Review & Installation

Hey guys. So, today we're checking out the Round Trail Mirrors fitting on 2018 and newer JL Wranglers. So, if you take your doors off often, or you have tube doors, and you're looking for a solution for better visibility while you're driving around on the street or the trail, this is going to be a great choice to take a look into. Now, this mirror is going to mount right up on the windshield hinge, which puts it at a good location for some good visibility while you're driving around. And what I particularly like about it is that it keeps options open like the hinges if you are looking to mount up tube doors. So, it kind of gives you some choices when it comes to other accessories. Now, these are going to be very durable made of a steel construction. And they're also going to have a nice texture black powder coat finish on top. That, of course, is to protect the steel, but that is also going to match with any other heavy duty accessories that you may already have on your Jeep. Now, these are also going to be fully adjustable. And in my opinion, these are going to be a very sturdy choice for a mirror. You will be able to adjust it at the base, and there are multiple spots to make sure that it is staying in place and not wobbling around like some other mirrors tend to do.Now, as far as pricing is concerned, these are going to come in at roughly $100, which is a pretty average price point for a good set of mirrors. And like I said before, some other choices that may be a little bit less expensive may take up some of those spots where you can mount up other accessories, for example, the hinge and the tube door. So, if you are looking for something that's going to completely stay out of the way of that, this is a great choice. Now, in comparison to other options, it kind of comes down to your personal preference in what kind of mirror that you want. Now, if you are looking to mount up tube doors, this is going to be a better option instead of a hinge-mounted option. This is also going to be a little bit smaller and sleeker considering it is a smaller round mirror, as where some other choices may have a rectangular mirror and so on. So, it comes down to your personal preference. I personally think that this is a good location. It is very straightforward, and it leaves options open for you to build your Jeep in the future. Now, as far as install is concerned, I'm going to give this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. You're going to need a couple of basic hand tools to get the job done and probably 10 minutes worth of your time. So, speaking of that install, let's jump into that now. The tools that I used for my install were an impact wrench, a 19 and 10-millimeter wrench, a five-inch extension, a Philips-head screwdriver, and a T50 torque socket. So, our first step of this install is to remove the bolt on the windshield hinge, but I do recommend to get the antenna out of the way first. It just makes it a little bit easier. I'm going to use a 10-millimeter wrench in order to take off our antenna. Just going to crack it free, and then we can twist it off by hand. Now, you don't necessarily have to do this, but I find it a little bit easier. Gives us more room to work with. Next, we can take a T50 torque socket, and I'm using a five-inch extension to clear the cowl here, and our impact wrench. We can remove that bolt.Next, we can take the arm for our mirror with the jam nut and the washer already on the arm itself, and we can thread this into place. Now, once it is completely tightened, we're going to back it off a little bit, so we can position our mirror on the outside here. But we need to tighten up that jam nut, so what I'm going to do is just hand tighten it, thread that down, and that's just going to hold this in place. Then we can take a 19-millimeter wrench or a three quarter inch wrench, and we can just tighten that up. Then we can take the mirror portion. This is going to have three Phillips-head screws on the back. It may come loose like this. So, what I'm going to do is take a Phillips-head screwdriver and just snug those up. So, it tightens up, and we'll be able to adjust it, and it will stay in place. Now, you can fully adjust it, or you can fully tighten them down once it's adjusted and on the mirror arm itself. Just going to snug them up right now. And then we can thread this onto the mirror arm. So, once you have your mirror correctly adjusted, you can just go back, completely tighten them down with that Phillips-head screwdriver if you can. All right. And then making sure that the jam nut is tight, and then you'll be all set to go.So, once the mirror is fully installed, what I would recommend is to jump in the driver seat just to make sure that your visibility is good to go. Then you can come back, and you can completely tighten them down with a Phillips-head screwdriver on the back, and the 19-millimeter wrench or a three quarter inch wrench over on the jam nut. Now, after that then you can repeat that process on the other side, and you'll be all good to go. But as for this side, we just need to make sure that that antenna goes back on. So, what you can do, just grab your antenna and thread it in. Now, it's your kind of personal preference on where you want this to sit behind or in front of the mirror. Then you can just give it a good tighten with that 10-millimeter wrench. So, that's going to wrap it up for my review and install.
