Installation Notes: THIS install was done on 1994 YJ with stock rear and stock skid plate. SOME FABRICATION IS REQUIRED TO INSTALL THIS TRACTION BAR. SOME WELDING IS REQUIRED TO INSTALL THIS TRACTION BAR.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1. You will need to reinforce your skid plate to be able to install the new shackle mounting plate. I used some steel from the hardware store. I combined (2) pcs 3/16” x 3” x 24” long bolted together.

2. Dry fit the traction bar locating it as close as possible to the axle differential on driver's side.I had to relocate the brake line coupling block on rear axle housing since it would cause the brake lines to rub on the new traction bar mounting plates. I loosened the threaded axle vent tube, this allowed me to push the brake line coupling block out of the way and then I re installed the vent tube and vent hose. Once you are able to dry fit the assembled traction bar you will need to mark the shackle mounting plate holes and drill them out so you can mount it. Also mark the rear mounting plate locations so you can wire brush the area so it is free of paint and grease.

3. Once you’ve bolted the front shackle mount to the reinforced skid plate, you will need to tack weld the rear mounting plated to the axle housing. After tack welding, you will need to disassemble traction bar so rear mounting plates can be fully welded onto axle housing. Reassemble after welding. Clean up and paint all unpainted surfaces.Lubricate the moving parts and your done.
