            M,O,R,E, Hide-A-Step Install

Piece a cake or pain? Turned out it was somewhere in the middle. Until I figured out a way to hold the bracket at a 90 degree angle, it was a pain. I used two woodworking clamps, with plastic pads, to get the bracket to 90 degrees, then wire (17-18 gauge) to hold it in that position, took off the clamps, then followed the instructions that came with the hide-a-step. It took several attempts with the clamps, they kept slipping off the pins. Once installed, I'm happy with the step and how it looks - it's hard to see, which I like. Haven't taken my Rubicon off road yet, so I haven't tested the step's ability to be taken off by removing the two pins. Works great, so far.

            Excellent Product!

When going off road my 2015 JKUs step style nerf bars kept getting caught up in the rocks, so I removed them. Even though my Jeep doesn't have much lift, I need a step because I regularly ferry my 82 year old other around, so a sturdy and functional step is a must have item. This step is the perfect solution and being more utilitarian than appearance oriented, it doesn't look as awkward as I thought it might. The step is sturdy and feels secure, it is also positioned in just the right place for the front passenger's entry into the vehicle. And the added bonus is the ability to quickly remove the step for off road adventures! I hesitated to invest in this step because the price seemed a bit steep (s all good Jeep parts are!) but given the quality of the build and the obvious engineering involved I now see it as a good value. If the price were perhaps 30 less I might swing for another for the driver's side, that said, I'll stick with just the passenger side for now.

            Quality item

I like these very much, though I personally found them a bit harder to install than anticipated. For me the easiest thing to do was remove my factory Rubicon rails to get these bad boys on. The instructions tell you to pry the rail in order to slip the step bracket on but I just couldn’t do it. It was much quicker just to remove the 3 bolts and 6 nuts, remove the rail, and put the bracket on that way. For time to install I’m choosing less than an hour and having now done it I probably could, but the next option is afternoon and it didn’t take that long. I’d say somewhere between would be about right.

Great add for a passenger boost!

So, to get my lift, I had to provide my bride with a step. This takes a tiny getting used to, but works great. Easy to install, and fit without effort with my side tube style rock bars. Who doesn't want the really cool electric slide out, but for the price on this and how easy it is to just step in with, this is a good bet.

            Just what I needed!

Bolts right up. Super easy install.. My wife can now climb right up without any difficulty. The spring loaded step retracts right out of the way when not being stepped on yet is sturdy enough for my 235 pounds. This was just what we needed for a 2.5" lift on the JK. It was a bit pricey for what it is but it works well and I'm quite willing to pay for MORE doing the design for the end result.

Took about an hour to install with standard tools. Slipped directly under my Rugged Ridge Rock Rails. Installed solo. Kind of pricey for what it is but the wife is happy so that's all that matters.

            Super Addition to the Willys

I have a 2016 Willys Wheeler JK 2dr. I put a lift on it and the wife had a hard time getting. I did not want a step that would hang down. These steps are perfect and install with the factory rock rail. They are very high quality and look great. I would reccomend these and my wife would too.

Review from M.O.R.E. Hide-A-Step Black (07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK)

            Working Well So Far

After reading the reviews I wasn't sure if it was going to be super easy or a bear for an easy install. It was in between but closer to easy than being a real pain. I didn't have to remove the whole rail like some have, I did pry down the rock rail bracket just a bit as the instructions stated. But getting the mount in between the frame and the rail took some wiggling. After that, getting the two front nuts on was a challenge as the face of the mount wasn't really flush with the body. Used getting one of the nuts on and the main bolt to pull it closer and then put on the last nut. Took me the full hour but it was on flush everywhere once done. My wife likes it, the step really helps, and it really doesn't stand out. So Far it is working well, we will see how it does at the car wash as I really don't want to have to remove the step unless I really have to. You have to get down there and do some lining up to get the pins in, so I don't want to do that every time I give Rubi a bath.

I had a shortage problem with the standard Hide a Step being too short. I found a place in Penns. that custom makes bigger pads that are installed onto the stock pads. You can find they on U tube under MORE Hide a step Installation. These pads are made of heavy duty Aluminum plates. check it out.

            Great steps!

I had to modify these to fit with my rocker guards installed, but they do exactly what I was hoping they'd do - provide a useful step that folds out of the way when not in use and is easily removable before hitting the trail.

            works great. low profile.

Installed on a 2015 2 Dr Rubicon with stock rock rails. The step is somewhat recessed due to the rock rail but there is plenty for your foot to get a purchase on for stepping in. It's easy to flip it down with your foot to use. The installation pictures were a bit of a head scratcher (trying to figure out pic orientation) but once I reviewed the install video it was straightforward and took about 30 min. It removes with a couple pins but it's out of the way enough that I'd likely leave it in place unless rock crawling. My wife is very happy to have it- she was having a little trouble getting in without it.

Installed with Rubicon OEM rock rails 2 door JK

Product works as described. I installed with Rubicon rock rails which did not interfere with step. I lost about 1/2 of the step as a result installing with rails--still able to function without issue. I would have liked for the step to have been black to match rock rails. Heavy and seemingly well made.
