INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

01 | REMOVING THE OIL FILTER AND GRILLE

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Unplug the air sensor.
3. Loosen the clamp on the intake hose and remove the hose from the engine bay.


4. Disconnect the PCV hose from the airbox.
5. Remove the airbox from the Jeep.
6. Remove the four pop clips that hold the upper radiator shroud to the radiator.
7. Unplug the turn signals.
8. Remove the six screw-type clips from the top of the grille.
9. Remove the grille. Put a bit of pressure on the bottom of the grille to unclip it from the Jeep.


10. Remove the four pop clips from the side radiator flaps.
11. Remove the oil filter.

02 | PREPARING THE MISHIMOTO OIL COOLER FOR INSTALLATION

1. Attach the bottom brackets to the oil cooler using the supplied Mishimoto hardware.
2. Attach the L-shaped bracket to the cooler using the supplied Mishimoto hardware.

03 | INSTALLING THE MISHIMOTO OIL COOLER

1. Install the sandwich plate to the oil filter housing. Remember to lubricate the O-ring with oil to create a proper seal.
2. Loosely install the banjo bolts to the sandwich plate.
3. Torque the center bolt adapter to 35 ft-lb.
4. On the passenger’s side, route the oil cooler lines in between the radiator and radiator support to the sandwich plate.
5. Attach the oil lines to the banjo bolts on the sandwich plate.
6. Loosely install the lower brackets of the oil cooler onto the Jeep.
7. Connect the oil lines to the oil cooler.
8. Attach the upper oil cooler bracket to the upper radiator support using one pop clip.

9. Tighten down all oil-line fittings.
10. Reinstall the oil filter.
11. Reinstall the air intake box assembly.



12. Tighten the clamp that holds the intake tube to the throttle body.
13. Reconnect the mass airflow sensor. be sure to depress the red tab, which is a safety measure to prevent the sensor from becoming unplugged.
14. Reinstall the front grille using six screw-type clips.


15. Reinstall the turn signals.
16. Reinstall the upper radiator shroud using four pop clips.


17. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.


18. Add approximately one quart of oil to the system, start the Jeep, and check for leaks.

19. You have now successfully installed the Mishimoto Jeep Wrangler Jk Oil Cooler. Enjoy!

SANDWICH PLATE

01 | A SSEMBLING 1/8” NPT PLUGS

1. Inspect components to ensure that male and female port threads and sealing surfaces are clean and dry and free of burrs, nicks, and scratches, and/or foreign material.  

2. Apply Teflon® tape (or sealant) 1.5-2 full turns in clockwise direction when viewed from the pipe-thread end. Leave the first two threads without any Teflon® to avoid contamination. 


3. Screw plug into port until it is “finger tight.”


4. Wrench tighten the plug 2-3 full turns. (1/8”npt only)


5. Remove any excess Teflon® after tightening.


Cleaning


6. Notice that no Teflon® tape is inside the npt port area.
