If you've upgraded your tire size and noticed that your Jeep has some loss in power, your fuel economy has started to suffer and you're just looking for overall better performance on and off road, upgrading your gears may be something that you need to pay attention to. Now, this Mammoth Front and Rear Ring & Pinion Gear Kit with the Master Overhaul Kit in a 4.88 Gear Ratio will be a great kit to take a look into for the 2007 to 2018 JK owners excluding the Rubicon models. Now, this kit will be a solid way to get everything that you need to gain that performance back that you previously lost. Now, choosing what gear ratio does come down to what motor and transmission that you have as well as your application and what you're using your Jeep for. But, generally, a 4.88 gear ratio will be good for the JK owners who have upgraded to a 35 to 37-inch tire. They want more performance than the standard ratio with pretty good drivability, full overdrive use for highway situations, and are also moderately taking their JK off-road and want consistent gear changing when changing elevations. Now, if you're not sure what gear ratio is right for you, there are gearing charts available on the website so I would double-check those for your motor transmission and your application. Nonetheless, these are going to be strong made of a precision heat-treated, high-quality steel material. These are also going to meet all OEM specifications for great durability and a long lifespan out of the gears which is ideal especially in off-roading or performance applications. This kit will also come with master overhaul kits for each axle which will cover everything that you need in order to install the new ring and pinion gears including the bearings, the seals, the shims, gaskets, and really whatever else you need when it comes to the install. Getting into price, this will cost you roughly $925 for the entire set which is pretty average for a full kit. Now, something to keep in mind when shopping around for gears is that some kits will include install kits and some kits will include master overhaul kits. Now, install kits will not include as much as a master overhaul kit so those will usually be to save a couple bucks on price. They may not include some of the non-necessary items inside the master overhaul kit that you may not need to replace, especially if you have a newer model but if you are looking to do a complete overhaul, then this is gonna be more up your alley. Not to mention some gears, keep in mind, will just come with the ring and pinion themselves. So, again, if you're looking for a fully inclusive option, this is going to get the job done. Now, when it comes to the install, this will be a three out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and I would highly recommend taking your Jeep to a professional to get these installed. The job is gonna take roughly six hours to a day to get these installed and you will need specialty tools in order to get the job done. However, that is going to wrap it up on my review for the Mammoth Front and Rear Ring & Pinion Gear Kit with the Master Overhaul Kit and a 4.88 Gear Ratio fitting all '07 to '18 JK Wranglers excluding the Rubicon models.
