        5 Top Rated Questions

I bought the magnaflow pro series cat-back exhaust but it's too load. What is a quieter option from Magnaflow or other stainless options?

        • The next step down would be the Magnaflow Performance series. The reason this system is so loud is that it dumps the exhaust under the car and the sound bounces back up into the cabin of the Jeep.

Does the kit come with hardware such as nuts and rubber hanger grommet?

        • This comes with the 2.5" clamp, and reuses factory hardware for installation.

Can you put a magna flow glass pack on this?

        • It would take a muffler shop to fabricate the Glass pack to this muffler system and would not be recommended.

Do I have to remove the skid plate on my 05 Wrangler to put this exhaust on? If I do can I put the plate back on with the exhaust installed?

        • No, the installation would not require you to remove the skid plate on your wranglerfor this exhaust. This exhaust will also clear that skid plate once installed.

            This sucker is loud!

I ordered the Magnaflow Pro-Series on 31 July 2019. Estimated shipping was 2-5 business days. Shipped on 1 Aug, received it on 6 Aug. The tracking number didn’t work so I didn’t know when it was going to arrive. I worked on my removing my exhaust on 5 Aug (my only day off this week) and took me a bit of time. The nuts on the old muffler looked like a cone. Couldn’t even get a rounded nut extractor to grip it. Had to drop my pan. That has all its other challenges of having rusted bolts and holding the trans up. I finally had access to the nut but I’d be a monkey’s uncle if it was not welded on! So I had to cut it with a reciprocating saw. After I got that taken cared of, I had to cut the pipe as I can’t get it over the axle as I’m laying down under a vehicle on jack stands. So if you’re planning on doing this install, take a look at your old exhaust to see what problems it would give you taking them off. I received the cat back exhaust the next day in a neatly packaged box. Looking it over, it looks like a really nicely put together round muffler. Welds were nicely even and smooth. The brand name is stamped on two sides. The exhaust tip looks like an after thought. Just some angled down pipe with rough sharp edges. I guess it does matter as no one can see it. But I do wish they at least buffed out the edges. Earlier in the day, I had purchased some exhaust flange nuts (m10 x 1.5) to replace the one that I’m supposed to reuse. The nut size would have been useful if added on the item information. Better yet, magnaflow should include these two nuts. Installation was straight forward. Align the studs with the cat flange and loosely tighten the nuts. Install the exhaust tip on the hanger and line up the muffler and use the clamp to loosely hold them together. Once everything lines up tighten the nuts down at the flange. Btw, make sure you have a 15mm deep socket, the studs are long so a normal socket will be too shallow. Then tighten up the clamp. The test drive. When I first started my TJ in my garage, there was a very deep rumble that echoed inside the cabin. It was quite loud probably because I was still in the garage. When I backed out the tone was a nice and deep. When I started to go forward, man I can tell this is going to be loud. Not obnoxious loud but yes your neighbors will hear you loud. Sort of like taking out the baffle out of your Harley exhaust. When I got to the main road, the sound was definitely awesome going through the gears! It’s like a totally new experience. Overall I’m very happy with this cat back exhaust system. Just a word of caution, if you don’t want it loud, don’t buy this. Lol

            Awesome

Easy install on 99 TJ. Sounds great and loud. Drop the trans plate cut the old exhaust out of the way and the new one bolts right up. Less than 2 hours start to finish

            Love the sound

Give it a couple days to settle and the sound is amazing. Cleans up the back end of the jeep, and adds just a little horse power. Install was a bit of an ordeal but that was because my skid plate rusted on.

            Like a Massage!

Just had this installed yesterday. It is head turning loud and I love it. Makes my ultra slow YJ sound like a beast! A little worried about getting pulled over and decibel tested... If that happens I'll send Magnaflow the ticket. :)

            D@mn, nice upgrade.

Just lifted my 99 Wrangler Tj with RC 4in long travel (omg sic lift/ride), factory exhaust (dead weight) was hitting the long arm in the rear, replaced it with the Magna Flow Pro. and D@mn it’s was easy, light and makes a nice deep tone! Buy it...

Only Magnaflow for TJs that flex

I originally started with a Magnaflow Competition series exhaust but ran into problems with it limiting my up travel because my rear track bar would hit the exhaust tubing. This pro-series eliminates that problem and tucks away nicely from the rocks.

Review from Magnaflow Pro-Series Cat-Back Exhaust (97-99 Jeep Wrangler TJ)

Look to see which version you need before you buy!

Great muffler! It tucks away really nice under the Jeep. You really have to get down on the ground if you want to see it. It produces a nice low tone. It's not obnoxiously loud but you can tell it's there. Make sure you look to see which version you need before you buy. I have a 2000 TJ (manf. 10/99) and I had to buy the one made for 97-99 TJ's. I'm not sure if it's just my Jeep, or extreme terrain has the wrong data. Just look before you buy. Total install time was between one and two hours for one person in a well-equipped garage. It took me a little longer than normal to install because I had to drop the transfer case plate in order to cut the muffler off the Jeep. It was too rusty just to pull off. also cutting the tail pipe section made it a lot easier to get the old tailpipe over the axle. Would recommend!

            Really Loud

It's well made, and it seems to give a little more horsepower and torque. But this system is embarrassingly loud. Am afraid this system will bring police inspection when accellerating. Am still testing it after 3 days, but I may have to replace it.

            Magnaflow Pro-Series Exhaust

Installation was very easy. Fit-up was perfect. Sounds great. Only issue I had was not having spare mounting nuts for the connection between the exhaust pipe and muffler. Old nuts were rusted tight and broke off with the studs when removing the old muffler.
