Understanding the MAP Sensor. In today’s electronically controlled engines, the Engine Control Module employs multiple sensors to monitor a series of variables continuously. Your Jeep Wrangler JK is no different, relying on numerous sensors to communicate with its computer for smooth operation; one such sensor is the MAP or manifold absolute pressure sensor. This sensor continuously monitors the pressure inside your Jeep Wrangler JK’s intake manifold, adjusting the rate at which fuel is injected into the cylinder to maintain a proper air/fuel ratio, improving drivability and mileage. Be sure to replace a worn or damaged sensor with the MAP Sensor.
