Hey guys, it's Sara with extremeterrain.com. And today, we have a review and install of the Dominator D6 Cab Length Side Step Bars in Textured Black, fitting your '16 and newer Tacoma Double Cab. This is perfect for the Tacoma owner who's looking for a running board-style step and wants a tough steel option with a black finish and a ton of stepping surface. These side step bars provide easy entry, especially if your Tacoma is lifted or leveled with its 6-inch wide stepping surface. And the raised steel step pad will provide easy entry in all weather. They feature mild steel construction with a textured black powder coat finish and double as some added side protection as a bonus. So, as far as price goes, these side steps come in at around $550 for the pair, putting them about middle of the road price-wise when compared to other options. And for your money, you're getting a tough steel side step with a nice, sleek black appearance and a wide stepping surface. So, as far as the install goes, I'm giving this one a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature a direct bolt-up install with no modification required that can be done within two hours. So with that said, let's check out the install. For this install, we used an impact gun, but a regular hand ratchet will work just fine. You'll also need 13 and 15-millimeter sockets, and you may want a small extension. All right. So the first step in our install is to grab your brackets and get them bolted up underneath your truck. Grab your bracket that is for the proper location. You should see them labeled D with driver or P with passenger. Go ahead and get it lined up to the two threaded holes in the body. Now, this might be a little bit hard to see because of the shape of the bracket, but we'll show you a different shot in just a second. Then go ahead and grab your hardware and get it threaded in.For this, we're using the smaller hex hardware with a washer and a lock washer. Go ahead and thread it into the holes in the body. Now, if you don't see threaded holes, you may see plastic plugs. You just need to remove those and the threaded holes will be behind it. Now, once you have them both threaded in, there is a little bit of play here, some room for adjustability. Keep that in mind for the next step, but we will be tightening these down. So go ahead and grab a 13-millimeter socket and get these tightened down. Moving on to the center mounting point, this one will look exactly like the rear that we just did. You can see those two threaded holes in the body. Grab the bracket, again, exact same as the rear, line it up over top of those two holes, and get your hardware threaded in. You will want a hex bolt, as well as a washer and lock washer. And there'll be two for each bracket and mounting point.Again, there is a little bit of adjustability here, not a ton. So we are gonna tighten these down now, and if you need to make any adjustments to how the bracket sits, you can always loosen these up and do that later on. Grab a 13-millimeter socket and a ratchet or impact gun, go ahead and tighten these down. Now we're moving on to the front-most mounting point. This one will look a little bit different. Again, you wanna make sure you have the proper bracket for the correct side that you're on. We're still on the driver side here and again, the front bracket will look slightly different than the other two. Still, we're using that hex hardware with a washer and lock washer. Just go ahead and get it threaded into the two holes in the body. And now we're gonna tighten these down as well. And again, if you do need to make any adjustments, you can always loosen these and make your adjustments later on. Grab that 13-millimeter socket and tighten it down. Now, before we can install this step, what we need to do is grab one of the brackets and slide it into the step like this. Now you will have to adjust this a little bit because they will move around as you go to install, you wanna slide them to approximately their location so we can get them bolted up. Repeat that process and slide two in the other direction to correspond with where the brackets go on the truck. Now, line up the step with the brackets you've already installed on the truck and go ahead and thread in your hardware. These will be the larger hex bolts with a washer and lock washer. And once you have that bolt threaded in, go ahead and line up and thread in the other bolt. Now, keep in mind, there are three threaded holes in these brackets and only two holes in the brackets being installed on the truck. So you will have one empty one. Moving on to the center-most mounting point, go ahead and line that up as well. Line up one of the threaded holes in the bracket with your hex bolt, washer, and lock washer, and line up and install the second one as well. Now we're moving on to the rear-most mounting point, go ahead and line this up and thread in your hardware. And repeat that for the last threaded hole. And now that all of these bolts are installed, grab a 15-millimeter socket and you can tighten them down. Now, there is a ton of adjustability back and forth, so make sure the step is sitting just where you like it. And once it is, go ahead and tighten these down. Repeat that for the rest of your mounting points. And finally, tighten down that last mounting point. All right. Now that our driver-side side step is installed, make sure you repeat all of those steps to install your passenger side. And that is gonna do it for the review and install of these side step bars. And remember for all things Tacoma, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
