Storage Construction. The Expedition Rack with the basket by Garvin is designed so that you can carry 300 pounds of gear and equipment safe off-road, or 500 pounds static weight. Fashioned from ¾ inch heavy duty steel tubing with 1 inch steel tubing supports, this rack is built to last. Black powder coat finish throughout prevents rusting. The Expedition Rack is covered by Garvin Industries's limited lifetime warranty against defects.

Storage Specs. The Expedition Rack is made to allow useful access to the roof, including removal of hard top front roof panels without removing the rack. The rack can be tilted to allow removal or installation of the soft top also. The basket's sides provide a confined container in which various small to medium items can be stored, including gear, camping equipment such as tents, fishing and hunting equipment, containers of food or drinking water, and so on.

Application. Garvin Industries's Expedition Rack is a roof rack that fits 2-door models of 2007-2018 JK Wranglers. This rack bolts on to brackets on the windshield frame in front, and the rear bodywork of the Jeep at the back. Minor drilling is needed in a few places to complete assembly, though this rack is mostly bolt-on. Ease of installation is between easy and intermediate. Basket assembly and attachment to the roof rack is straightforward.

            Great purchase

I had to have this installed since I'm not at ease with drilling into my Jeep BUT it looks great and provides extra space for camping trips. I would highly recommend the wind deflector because of the loud noise that begins around 45-50MPH.

A bit mind puzzling, remember to apply nail polish and then paint the holes after u drill them with touch up paint to reduce the chance of rust

            Expedition Rack

The product itself is great. I bought the wind deflector along with the rack and there isn't much noise at all. I had a 52 inch light bar with brackets as well as a highjack with a driverside door mount on the A-frame, so I had to go to ace hardware to get longer bolts to mount the front brackets. However, the instructions were poorly written. Bad pictures and pretty sloppy in my opinion. Overall it's a great product. Make sure you measure twice before you drill!! I read the directions wrong and made a hole which is gonna have to be where the CB antenna is going to be mounted to I guess.

Easy to install although it took about 4 hours working by myself and tough as nails. I like it a lot and it's great functionality is a real asset for cross country trips as well as around town errands.

Love the rack, better directions would help!

I love this rack now that it is on my Jeep, but the installation could be improved in several ways: 1. Provide a tools needed list. I hated having to stop and start because I didn't know what tools I needed until I got to that step. Or I have to read the whole thing and highlight all the tools. Just list them, please. 2. Label EVERY SINGLE PART. Some parts were not labeled and I had to wing it. 3. Provide a template to help with the hole drilling. At least a link to download one. It was hard to get the holes just right and I drilled two extras. Hated drilling into my baby in the first place, a template would have helped. All this being said, it's a great, sturdy rack and I have already loaded it up several times. Well worth the money, even with the installation issues.

            Great Investment

This is a great rack! It has lots of room, is very sturdy, and makes minimal noise. I had it installed by a shop due to lack tools and lack of time in preparation for a move. This was the first time the guys installed this model of rack and said it was very easy. The instructions laid everything out and all of the pieces were pre-identified. The rack covers the entire top of the 4 door and has tons of places for tie-downs. There are also pivot points at the rear which lets you take off the roof. The only issue I've had since traveling over 2,000 miles is the bolts at the pivots coming loose and needing to be tightened about every 300 miles. Nothing major, but it does rattle, and was concerning the first time until I figured it out.

            Great Roof Rack

Better instructions could have made the install a little easier but overall I'd say it went pretty smoothly. I was a bit hesitant to drill holes in the body of my Jeep but it turned out to not be as scary as I expected. I see a lot of people complaining about wind noise but with the Garvin wind deflector that I purchased to go along with the rack, I didn't even notice a difference. It's not like Jeeps are really all that quiet to begin with anyways. Overall this is a very sturdy rack that looks great as well.

I'm not one to give negative reviews however I'm very disappointed in this rack system. First was the instructions the drawing looked like a 1st grader drew them. If you go on You tube they make it out how to be so simple ,not so much. So after spilling out just about every swear word known to man in 3 different languages it's put together. Here is the good part the hole point I purchased this design over the others is it's made out to flip over easily to take your tops off. Nope not at all first you have to undo 4 larger bolts 1 on each corner. Then you have to take the hole license plate assembly off. Then you have to bolt on these metal stops. Then it takes 2 people to pull it back. Then you finally get to take your top off. The tou have to take the medal stops off What??? Is it just Me but I missed the part that because of the rack it's going to take 2 people and over a hour to get some fresh air. Really????? I wish I saw this review before burying Mine.

            Does what I wanted but........

The rack itself is wonderful and does what I wanted, needed it to do but, at a price. The wind noise is horrible! It may get a little better on a hardtop, I don't know about that! I did have a friend build me an aerodynamic shield that does help a lot 50 and under but it's still pretty annoying above that.

            Garvin Expedition Rack w/ Basket

I've been building my 2012 Jeep Sahara Unlimited and I'm really happy to say I invested in the Garvin Expedition Rack w/ Basket (07-17 Wrangler JK 4 Door). I also got the Expedition Rack Ladder. They look awesome on my Jeep. Now I'll have the extra room to haul when traveling or hunting.

            Easier install than expected

I've had the rack on for 2 weeks now. It is a bit noisy, and crosswind seems to have added impact, but thats to be expected. It still isnt bad though, plus you can add the wind deflector to help with the noise. Installation was a bit daunting at first, after all, i was drilling into my brand new jeep! But as other said, measure twice, or three ti es even, and read the instructions beginning to end before starting. Installed by myself in 4 hours, and it really looks great. Packed qbout 150 lbs of gear and it handled it great!

            Loving this rack!!

I finally decided to spend the money on this rack and it did not disappoint! Even though the installation is somewhat involved. Anyone with some basic mechanical skills could get the job done, provided you are not scared to drill some holes in your jeep. The rack is very sturdy and it will soon have a tent mounted up there. For anyone looking for a great rack for their JK this is a great option to consider.

First off, everything came very well packaged. All the little nuts and bolts were decided into their separate bags and labeled for each step it assemble the rack. The directions were simple and easy to understand. The rack itself is super stout. It tells you specifically not to put any tires above 31" on the rack, but I did anyways lol. (Would be taken down for offroad) it makes little to no noise, no more than my light bar makes already. It looks fantastic as well. It took me a better part of 6 hours to install all by myself.

            Much easier than originally thought

I was very hesitant about drilling in to my body and quite frankly I was worried about my skill level doing a job like this. Reading the diagram for the drilling was slightly confising at first but once I figured it out it was simple. Remember measure twice (or 4-6 times and have someone else check it) and cut once.
