Hey, guys. So today I'm here with the Drake Off Road 4-wheel drive Shift Knob, fitting all 2017-2018 JK Wranglers. So small mods for your interior can really make the world of difference when you're looking to refresh your interior or just customize it and spice it up. This 4-wheel drive shift knob by Drake Off Road will be the perfect example of that, giving you an off-road and custom feel to the interior of your JK. So this will also be perfect if you're looking to match it to a manual transmission shift knob, as well as any other tire tread designs that you already have going on inside of your Wrangler for that more custom and off-road feel like I mentioned before. Now at the moment, this is gonna be roughly $25 which is not a bad price for a shift knob on the site right now, and this is made of a billet aluminum. It is pretty heavy weight and it is good quality in my opinion. So $25 really isn't that bad and it even comes with a one-year limited warranty to keep the peace of mind. Now there are other options on the site that you may be taking a look at but none of those will have that treaded design and if that's what you're specifically looking for, then this is gonna be a great option for you to take a look at. The install's gonna be a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Gonna need two tools in order to get this installed. So speaking of the install, let's jump into that now. Tools that I used for this install are an Allen key and a flathead screwdriver. So the first step to our install is really just getting our four-wheel drive lever in position so we can take off the shift knob. Now I would recommend to put it in 4-high to give yourself a little bit of room to work with. So you will have to put your Jeep in neutral in order to do that, so I'm gonna go ahead and do that now. So I grabbed my friend Ryan because I did not eat my Wheaties this morning, so he's gonna to help us out to take off the shift knob so we can put on our new one.Now obviously this is a pretty simple product but I still did want to give you guys a side by side on the stock shift knob. Now, this is gonna be a different shape and I actually like how it fits in your hand. It fits a lot better and it feels a lot better compared to your shift knob, however. So this is really all about looks, it's gonna be made of a billet aluminum, so it does have a really nice feel and weight to it and it's also going to last a long time. Now it has a black anodized finish giving it a very sleek look and I do like how it looks overall compared to your plastic stock shift knob that can get worn out, it can crack, and just not look the best over time. You still get the 2-high, 4-high neutral, and 4-low right on the front and it's engraved in and it looks really nice just taking a look at it. It will also have a rubberized tire tread around it which I do really like. It gives it a nice touch of style, a little bit of a custom look, and it adds a little bit of a grip feature, so when you're pulling it down in 4-low, you do have a little bit of grip there. So let's go ahead and go install this on our Wrangler. So what we have to do next is take off this outside rubber piece. So I'm just going to grab my very small flathead, be very careful not to scratch the anodized finish, and we're just going to...I already kind of moved it with my hand but we're going to get under there and pull up, making sure not to scratch the finish. It is going to be pretty tight on there and you'll see a set screw. Now we are going to take an Allen key and take that set screw out. So what we're gonna do now is just place this over, position it where we want to, and then we can reinstall the set screw. So once that's tightened down, we can grab the grip and put that back on. It will slide over pretty easy and then you are all set to go. Just make sure that you put it back in 2-high. So that's gonna wrap it up from my quick review and install on the Drake Off Road 4-wheel drive Shift Knob, fitting all 2007 to 2018 JK Wranglers. Specs. A major upgrade from the cheap plastic stock 4WD shifter knob, DV8's Aluminum 4WD shifter knob is a stylish, suave, yet virile-looking addition to your JK Wrangler interior. The soft rubber hand grip provides you with excellent control, and its tire-tread pattern is very eye-catching, too. Functionality is superb and the black anodized finish is very durable.
Construction. Manufactured out of brawny, practically unbreakable billet aluminum, this Drake 4WD shifter knob features a black anodized coating for additional aesthetic and durability qualities. The tire-tread grip is made with Drake's patented (D650,258 S) polyurethane. The part is covered by a 1 year limited warranty but will likely last far longer than that under normal use.
Application. This 4WD shifter knob fits 2007-2018 JK Wranglers. Installation is easy, but removing the plastic factory knob requires a lot of strength, and must be done cautiously as it pops off suddenly. Use of a strap wrench recommended, though not required.
