Restore Full Ability to Start Your Jeep’s Engine. The Starter Drive, often also called the Bendix gear, is a small, relatively simple mechanism that plays a crucial role in the life of your Jeep. It allows your Wrangler’s starter motor to engage correctly with the ring gear on the flywheel so you can start the engine. If your 4.0L or 4.2L Starter Drive isn’t working properly, simply replace it with this part from Vintage to restore easy, efficient starting.
OEM Quality Metal Construction. The teeth on the gear that meshes with the ring gear on the flywheel can get worn or broken. Internally, the operation of the Starter Drive can break down.
